When you use a magnet as a battery spacer... (and I do, and use the same 8X1.5mm magnets that James has linked to), you want to make sure and use a rubber (or other non-conductive material) washer of the same thickness or slightly less, to act as both a centering retainer and insulator.

As the magnets tend to self-center anyway, it's not super critical for a desk top mech, but in the event the mech might receive a hard hit or shock, the magnet, if laterally unsupported, can shift sideways and provide you with a (highly undesirable) hard short.

Other than this one caution... no worries. ;-)

I find that these batteries come in different lengths with every manufacturer. Some longer, some shorter. What brand 18350 batteries do you use?
is this the wooliston version? i have the SMOK magneto and dont have that problem. i run flat top 350s.

anyways, im gonna guess and say either a 2cent fuse or a kick might help.

wow, never knew that. but i have some generic gray 18350 that came with my gf's k100. and an EH brand one. theyre both the same size. dont have a ruler on me to measure them unfortunately. i picked the EH brand one up from a B&M store in my town. $6, i couldnt go wrong.

have you looked into the 2cent fuse or kick idea i suggested? haha. that was off the top of my head and have no clue if it would work. so kinda curious. :)

That's the main reason I will only use AW 18350's and Panasonic 18650's, that way I never have to worry about the length changing.

This could be an option:

https://domovaporco.com/product/gp-telescopic-centre-post-version-2-5/

I have never seen the top cap of a magneto, but this kit has the delrin piece that threads into the top cap- the threads are 510 so if the magneto's delrin insert on the top cap threads out, this should be a direct replacement. I bought one for my Gus and another for a spare, but I found it works in my sigelei 19 also.
At the very east it could work with a little modding.

I would love to find an insulating battery spacer. 18 mm to 20 mm delrin or PCB round disc. Can cut center out for magnet or more importantly SMD fuse.
