The type of batter doesn't really matter. I have 808's, eGo's, protected, chemically safe mod battery's. It doesn't matter the type. It's still not recommended ..... But that doesn't mean that people don't still do it.
I myself have been know to do it, but now that I have enough battery's and know how long they take to charge it doesn't really matter if I have a couple that need to be charged, I still have plenty to be able to continue using without worrying.
