So I just got my BB in the mail, I am using 14500 3.7v protected Trustfire batteries. See here: Protected Trustfire 14500 Battery, 900 mAH

I can get these batteries to work SOMETIMES, they will work one moment and the next it will not. After I bump the bottom or side of the BB I can hear the battery move a bit and I can usually get a couple pulls before the battery moves out of place again.

I also have two different sets of porotected CR2 batteries which seem to fit in the BB no problem but no matter what I try I cannot seem to get them working. Could it be the same type of connectivity issue or possibly the protection curcit is tripping? I only have 3.2 ohms cartomizers to test these with at the moment, nothing with higher resistance.

So, could it be the positive or negative end that is not connecting properly? Are there any temporary fixes I could try before ordering some different batteries that might fit better?

Thanks for the help in advance :p

probably your switch. there have been problems with that switch in the BB. try popping the switch with your finger very quickly but forcefully. there were some alignment problems inside the switch that seem to be corrected when the switch button in tapped and the mechanism is center inside the switch.. let us know if that helps. you might need to tap it hard several times.

Well, I tried striking hard many times. It doesn't seem to have done anything. I'm thinking maybe I am not striking ir right?

...or possibly the batteries are too short? But shouldn't all "protected 14500" batteries be approximately the same length? I don't understand it was working intermittently just a few hours ago. :(

Are you using the 510 carto or an 808 with an adapter?

There have only been a few "funky" switches in the BB or SB, less than 2%. The alignment are not truely an alignment issue, more of an imperfection in the switch cup itself. The firm tap clears this imperfection from the contact plate.

ccdz,
I am using a 510 smok tech cartomizer. Works fine on my roughstack. I am also using a 510 LR atomizer which works fine on roughstack as well. I understand the CR2's might not be working because of the protection circut. I will see if I can get a 3.5 ohms atomizer to test the CR2's just so I know it's not the switch.

I had a similar problem with the BB I first recieved last week which I returned for a new one. The first one was reported to be working just fine upon arrival so I assume the common demoniator is the battery size.

Since the replacement I did order some different 14500 batteries from madvapes, just in case the ones I had before were not working. The first day I recieved the BB it was working great although I didn't use it too much. The next day it was working intermittently and now it's not working at all.

I suppose the only difference is the batteries. As far as the wrap on the bottom of the batteries I went ahead and got a razor blade to trim off the excess and expose more of the contact area on the negative side. That doesn't seem to be doing anything.

I do not have a different type of cartomizer, but this one was working just fine with it eairler today. I have also tried several different types of atomizers, 510 and 801 nothing seems to do the trick.

Scorched,,, What type Cartomizers are you using with the BB ??? Also What brand of Cr2's are you using,,, I have 3 bb's and have never had any issues like this........

Harley,
I have two types of CR2's, one of them Ultrafire and one an unnamed brand. The 14500's I am using are trustfire. All of the batteries are protected. I got all of my batteries from www.Madvapes.com

As well I am using 510 and 801 atomizers from Ikenvape and 510 atomizers from madvapes. I am using 510 smok tech 3.2ohms cartomizers from madvapes.

Haha that is exactly why I am stumped... doesn't make sence at all.

I will go ahead and continue to tinker with it tonight. If I still cannot get it to work I will send it out and PM you a tracking code tomorrow afternoon.

Sounds good Quinton, I will through some 510 Cartos in the package for your troubles :) One more thing You can try. Try prying the center post of your carto up a little bit with a flat blade, only takes a little bit. I remember you saying you use a copper as well, and I think it may have pushed the center post in your atty enough to make it not make contact. I use OEM threads in the BB, but not all manufactures are exactly the same, atties and connectors alike. :(

Odd,,, Have you checked the voltage on you batteries when they come off the charger ???? I also use cartos from Madvapes, They are boge brand, But i think the smoke techs are the same thing....

If you have had the same problem with 2 BB's i would have to think it is something with the batteries or a carto contact problem.. As i said, i have three of these units and have never had your issue... However i do know that the Cr2's will NOT fire a 510 on the BB because of the amp draw.. The 901 atties work fine.......

Harley,
I have checked the voltages of the batteries fully charged with my multimeter. The CR2's come in around 3.2v at a full charge and the 14500 comes in around 4.2v.

You said the standard 510 atomizers do not work with the BB, do you know if a higher resistance 510 would work with it? I am working on making a 3.5ohms atomizer as we speak... might get it to work with the CR2's.

CDDZ,
I went ahead and tried that as well, still nothing. :( Hopefully we can figure it out. I just wanted to say thank you for your patience and understanding.
