I've only been vaping for about 5 weeks, and have already quit analogues! But I have in that time tried KR808D-1s, the J-118/VX2/902, and the Joye 510. All have their strengths and weaknesses.

But now I want to move up to a bigger battery model. But I only can afford to do this once! It's just too costly for now otherwise. And having to constantly replace mini-cig batteries looks expensive down the road.

The Riva also has costly batteries, but perhaps they are more durable and last longer? Does anyone have information to offer on that?

The BB and the Indulgence are battery holders, and the replacement batteries are very cheap compared to mini-cig batteries. And both are flexible about the connectors. Has anyone tried both, and what is your take on them, keeping in mind that I want something for the "long haul" so to speak?

I've searched the forum, but I would still appreciate some advice.

Thanks.

Get the BB. It is a tank that works every time. I bought it for my girlfriend who breaks everything and she hasn't killed it yet. I would highly recommend it. You can also get the passthru with it if you want safe consistent high voltage vaping. I'm trying to be a salesman or anything, but I believe you will be happy with a BB.

You Could go with the Riva, eGo, etc. But remember that they use a proprietary battery that cost $25.00 and up when they need replaced. A mod that uses, say, a 18650 battery will run you about $7.00 for a battery replacement and a 18650 is rated at 2400 mAh to 3000 mAh as compared to the Riva and eGos 750 and 650 mAh respectively.
If I was to choose a 510 specific model with a proprietary battery it would be the Hello 16 which is a little bigger than the eGo with twice the battery life (1300 mAh).

You've got to think BIG picture.

Even the most expensive Ecigs / Batteries / Atomizers / Carts / Juice, is still cheaper than the cigarettes you were smoking.

I have spent $200 on vaping supplies in about 35 days.
Considering the cost of the cigarettes I would have bought in the same amount of time,
I have just today broken even.
And in the future, $30-$50 in juice/carts, and replacing a $20 battery / $10 atomizer once a month is nothing compared to about 38 packs i would have smoked at $5 in a month.

If you had the chance to try the riva vs bb or indulgence you would see that the bb & indulgence are bigger & better than the riva in all ways. I think the only thing that makes the riva different from a reg 510 is the cone & a megga bat(NOT sure, Do not flameLOL) I'd Def get one of those 2 (BB Indulgence) check your battery prices too, one compared to the other, big difference there too.IMO
PS Just saw a post where someone's having trouble finding the battery's for the riva also-

I have tried a few mods. The Indulgence is 60 bucks. Add a USB passthru $15-20, add a big battery cap + batteries $25-30. You can even use a 18650 with the big battery cap and get 2 day 3.7V vaping between charges. It comes with specifically threaded inserts for the m401, 510, 901/808D and 801. Pretty much every style of popular atomizer out there.

I'm using mine with 401 atomizers and dipping. The atomizer is exposed vs. down in the tube like the 510 or 901 or 801 so you can dip the atomizer right into the liquid always getting the correct amount since the extra just stays behind. Sort of odd with a large battery on a small atomizer but so flavorful you wouldn't believe.

I've also used mine with 901 and 510 atomizers and LR (low resistance) atomizers. Again much nicer compared to the stock e-cig. The stock 900mah battery should last pretty much anyone an entire work day, not the entire day but the 10 hours you aren't at home (I include some driving time and lunch)

Who exactly is Hello, and why recommend a 3rd tier manufacturer who's main claim to fame is supplying the lowest end market? It takes a while to see how a product performs and lasts before making recommendations to new folks. The 16 has to be the most generic looking thing I've seen. And if in fact the cone does affect the vape in a positive way you are stuck using expensive proprietary atties. There's more to an e-cig than just a big battery. It will also be interesting to see if claims of "twice the battery life" are actually true.

Settle down there big fella. If you read my post a little more carefully you'll see that my real recommendation is to avoid proprietary ANYTHING. I said IF you decide to go with... Personally I wouldn't buy an eGo or Riva either because of the price of the batteries. There are a TON of great mods out there if a person wants long battery life and you can get a lot of them to work with any atty.
Besides, why not let a person know what all is out there? I personally am not invested in Joye stock.

Buzzy,
If you can wait a bit, I'd like to suggest, the NEW Ultimate MrPuffer (UMP). Check it out here.

I have the MP1 510 (IMR 14500 batts, and LR EM5 atty), and for almost a month now it's been a true workhorse. The one shown on the right in the photo is the The MP1 TougherPuffer, which he recently introduced as well.

PS. I am in no way affiliated with Mr Puffer or his products. I'm just one of his many happy customers.

I progressed from the regular 510 to the Tornado (TW version of the Riva) and it is still my go-to, main vape. Nice form factor, very good draw with the cone, long battery life, flexible enough to try a LR atty if you like. Plus the price is right and you can easily re-use any spare 510 parts that you may have lying around the house - highly recommend it.

In terms of sheer flexibility, I'd say go with the Indulgence. I've got what I consider to be the full kit (pass-thru & extended battery tube) and you really can't beat the multitude of setups for the price. The only complaint that I have is that it's massive with the extended battery cup. I mostly use it at home at 5v (pass-thru) or 6v (stacked LiFePO4s) but if i take it out and about, I just throw the normal cup on there with the stock 18350 and I'm set for hours.
