E-cigarettes: The Unknown Dangers
Originally marketed as a safe alternative to smoking traditional cigarettes, most e-cigarettes contain nicotine and other harmful chemicals. The long-term effects of e-cigarettes are still unknown.

What are electronic cigarettes?
You may have heard of e-cigarettes, e-pens, e-pipes or vaporizers. But what are they? How do they work? And, most importantly, are they safe? Officially known as Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS), they are battery-operated devices that contain a liquid cartridge. This is often called “vaping.” Originally marketed as a safe alternative to traditional cigarettes, consumers were given very little information, if any, about the ingredients of the liquid. Although e-cigarettes do not contain tar or produce tobacco smoke like traditional cigarettes, most do contain nicotine and other potentially harmful chemicals.

E-cigarette manufacturers are targeting youth the same way tobacco companies did in the past. The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) recently classified e-cigarettes as tobacco products, and you must now be 18 years of age or older to purchase them.
__________

Personally, I'm all for more research and not marketing or selling to youth, but to blanket the entire industry with "targeting youth" and essentially condemning vaping because of "other potentially harmful chemicals"? What chemicals are these exactly? Is there viable research on this yet?

Virtually nothing about vaping being a safer alternative to smoking or a smoking cessation aid that actually works (as opposed to gum, patches, and drugs).

I know this is going to sound Bizarre.

But I have seen Many of these e-Mails from Insurance Companies over the years. And it seems like Every year the Tone of them becomes Less Hostile.

Maybe in 5 Years or so they will be sending out e-Mail saying that e-Cigarette use is Viable Harm Reduction over Smoking. Kinda like how the UK is Evolving.

"most e-cigarettes contain nicotine and other harmful chemicals", by this inferring that nicotine is a harmful chemical? If so, I wonder what they have to say about nicotine gum, patches, lozenges and nasal sprays, which are perfectly legal to buy over-the-counter and to use indefinitely. And those products (except for the nasal sprays) are ingested, not inhaled.

But, hey, vaping is a relatively new innovation. Maybe over time, more people and companies will embrace it. Most likely not in the very near future, though. They all have to cover their "behinds" as far as liability and money is concerned.

Insurance companies, like big pharma, has a huge monetary stake in this. Of course they're not going to tell the truth, because that's less money for them (in higher premiums) and for their big brother, big pharma. I'm not surprised, just pi$$ed.

They don't really know the truth (and I'm sure we don't fully know, either), but they react just like a disturbed fire ant mound, scurrying all over the place in panic, trying to protect themselves.

Virtually nothing about vaping being a safer alternative to smoking or a smoking cessation aid that actually works (as opposed to gum, patches, and drugs).

This is only one part of a huge attempt at hijacking the vape industry to recoup BG lost taxes, protect BT and keep BP happy ... everyone quitting smoking and becoming healthy has hit them like a ton of bricks.

millions of people quitting smoking overnight was never imagined and they cannot allow it to continue.

The amount of money involved is massive ... here's the the problem they don't see and will come back to haunt:

This statement has been their go-to since day one ... The long-term effects of e-cigarettes are still unknown.

That is getting old ... Vaping is going on 10 years now, millions of proven ex-smokers ... millions of healthier people ... we're still waiting for the first person to develop a serious decline in health from vaping.

Vaping will be proven as the miracle it appears to be ... the greatest saviour in life the medical field has ever seen.

Everyone still quits smoking with Vaping ... however, the propaganda has already succeeded in convincing the public it is the same as smoking.

Within 5 years, we are going to see the black market get serious about vaping.

This writing is political, not medical. It was written by somebody in the organization who knows nothing about the topic and reflects that the organization doesn't care about the merits up or down. This is similar to the FDA writing about battery safety, shallow, incompetent, intentional scare tactics, no useful information.

Insurance is a curious business and may be their influences aren't always intuitively obvious. Berkshire Hathaway owns Geico car insurance. Warren Buffet said that if driverless cars drastically reduce insurance claims it will reduce the profitability of the car insurance business. What happens to the medical insurance business if smoking disappears? Do they make less money or more money? What makes more money for drug companies, treatments or cures? Drug companies make money from their stop smoking products even though they don't work. May be that's allowed by the FDA because nicotine is reletively harmless, unless it's used in a product that does work, like ecigs.

Like Chris Rock said, "the moneys not in the cure, it's in the medicine". Money, or rather, greed, is the strongest motivator. There's no morality in greed, and politics is greed, so there's no morality in politics, at least IMO. Call it greed, call it crony capitalism, call it plain stupidity, our government is full of it. The system is broken, and needs an overhaul. When you're gambling on people's lives, when life and death becomes a crap shoot for more money, this is more than just stupidity, this is plain evil.

OK, I'm pretty sure my rant is over.

A lot of them are in the e-liquids too. :)
As long as we do not change the economic and political system, freedoms will diminish. The money rules the world and it's really bad because only a small plutocracy own it and try to hold its power. Power is freedom. But as everyone knows, the freedom of someone, stops where the freedom of another one begins.
Human does not know how to manage power. This is the real problem.
