It's strange. When I first got into vaping and quit analogs (YAY for that, BTW!) I expected to feel a little geeky puffing on my stainless steel 510 around smokers. I expected to deflect my share of jeers and disbelief, simply because vaping is so new, and smoking has such a "cool factor" attached to its ritual.

What I'm finding is that every time I pull it out, I end up texting this forum's URL and that of some good retailers to most every smoker in the bunch. They can't believe how nice it feels and tastes, and it seems a little like magic to people who haven't seen them.

The crazy thing is, I'm having to beat away NON-SMOKERS that want to try it with a stick. They say "well, I've always kind of wanted to smoke but it's so bad for you. This would be so cool, I could take smoke breaks with my friends and get that sense of community without harming myself too much." They tend to be artists, musicians, and writers, for whom smoking is still considered quite sexy, if a little self-destructive.

I smack them down, of course, and let them know that not being addicted to nicotine is a MAJOR gift, and that PVs are not meant to start a new generation of health-conscious people on their way to "safe" smoking. I'm really surprised how common this is, though. It's making me want to be more secretive with my vaping, even.

Has anyone else run into this?
