it fires a coil i build at 0.4, but after scrunching it, they usually turn out around 0.6. the main thing i was getting at is the readout would blink if it got lower and show the ohms, its just showing shorts for me. what im thinking is maybe im using too thick gauge wire, and in the center posts both leads are getting screwed up in the tiny hole. But when i try to dual coil my cigreen-X with a two hole center block post on it, one lead in each hole. i still get shorts for some reason. ive tried 5 wrap 24 gauge dual coil, and 8 wrap 24 gauge dual coil. not sure what is going on.
Just one missing piece of the puzzle: What is the diameter of what you're wrapping on?
If it's 1.6mm, you'd need 16 (yes, 16!) wraps to hit 0.5 dual 24ga coils.
If it's 2.0mm, you'd need 14 (yep, still 14!) wraps to hit 0.5, and finally,
if it's 3.0mm, you'd need 11 wraps.
So... I'm guessing that your coils are just too low for the DNA30. I think you'd do better with 28ga, possibly 26 (Around 1.6, 2.0, and 3.0mm mandrels, you'd need 11, 9.5, and 7 wraps respectively, to hit the 0.5ohm minimum. Kind of iffy, but they might work perfectly well, I don't know)
I believe that a coil rises in resistance after dry-firing, because it develops a layer of oxidation - current can no longer travel between wraps of the coil, and has to take the full intended course.
