Hello folks, been lurking on this forum for almost a year now, decided i would finally start posting now that i feel i know what i'm doing for the most part.
-Started out with gas station disposables about the middle of last year and quickly lost interest as they were about 10 bucks a piece for a day or so worth of vaping.
-Around the beginning of this year got some mistic rechargables and continued smoking and vaping about 50/50.
-About late march to early april made the decision to quit finally as i had a major dental operation coming up and was tired of the hole in the bottom of my wallet. Ordered an ego twist from a sort of local shop here along with some juice. The clearo (vision ce3) that came with my twist was doa, so i experimented with refilling the mistic cartos while i waited for a replacement clearo. Finally about a week later the replacement came in and i was floored with how much better it worked than the mistic! Haven't smoked a full real cigarette since then, although i have had a couple, and good god they were terrible!. Went through a small variety of different types of clearos and finally settled on a kanger t3s. I was in vape heaven so to say for a while, then the wanting more bug hit me.
-Around august i bought a smoktech octopus rda, some kanthal and some silica, pulled out my old el-cheapo multimeter and learned to wrap coils. Discovered cotton (peaches and cream yarn, qtips, and organic cotton balls) worked alot better than the silica (for me) and gave the silica away to another vaper i know.
-Mid august, I ordered a sentinel clone. Dripping on a mech (low resistance coils, but not sub-ohm, honestly don't want to go that far down the rabbit hole any time soon) was the best thing since sliced bread!
-early october got tired of always having to drip every five minutes or so and bought a genesis type atty, and after a week decided mesh wasn't worth the trouble and converted it to an auto-dripper setup, first with regular coils, then moving on to microcoils with cotton. Pretty happy with it aside from the leaking if you don't keep it upright all the time. The dripper comes out when i want a different flavor for a little while but don't want a full tank of it, or if i want to test out a different coil setup.
-Have on order now a kayfun clone because i've heard alot of good things about it and really tired of the leaking. Once i get that in i'll make another post with my trials and tribulations getting it set up though i've read that it is really much easier than the genesis (in regular mesh mode or auto dripper mode even)
That's my story so far, I can offer some advice for new vapers as about 7 months in to vaping 100% and not smoking stinkies at all, i feel i have a decent grasp on how things work and what a simple upgrade path looks like. as far as my nic levels, i started with 24, was a very heavy smoker and anything less just didn't cut it. moved down about a month in to 16-18 depending on where i got my liquids, and now am cutting down even further, 10-12 is where i'm at now. planning to go down to 0mg at some point soon, just worried about not getting throat hit. i don't like fruity flavors much, although i did have a spiced pear that was really good, if not a bit heavy on the cinnamon (and yes, i used it in a glass tank, not plastic). I like some tobacco flavors, and some desert flavors, haven't really found a single flavor i can call an ADV yet though. maybe all day for a few days but then have to change it a few days later.
