Been vaping for a while looking to build my own box mod

I have been vaping for about a year and a half and have used about every device, now I want to make my own. I plan to make the Raptor mod that Mamu has posted but I don't know what to use to ground everything to. I am a physics and EE student and have a good amount of experience building circuits and normally just ground things to the box that I am building in but I don't know if that is a good idea on vape mods. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I would take a lead from the battery -( battery holder) to the neg tab on the chip and make the neg tab the common ground

and... I would go to a solid copper #12 wire ( Romex) for the ground supply... nice and "stiff"... holds its shape better than stranded wire.
