Hello,

Im a new member and excited to be a part of this forum. I got into vaping about a month ago and after several internet searches bringing me to this forum I thought maybe it's time to stop lerking and become a member. I started on some cheap CE4 devise for $15 just to try it out and now I'm hooked. My current setup is a Protank 2 on an EGO 1100 mah and looking to upgrade but wanted to run it by you all to see if I missed anything or you had recommendations. Here's what I'm looking at buying for my protank...

Kamry Teliscopic Storm (KTS) -The current setup feels a bit like a magic wand so I wanted something thicker but still compact. Love the looks of it and the side fire button.

AW 18350 - I want the best battery I can get so if there is something better please let me know. I know the 350 is small but I dont mind swapping batteries. Would rather keep the KTS shorter.

Kick- I hate that I get a great vape off a fresh battery but then the quality drops off. From what I understand a kick will fix that. But no idea which one works best with KTS and 350. Recomendations would be great.

Charger- I want something that I can leave batteries on over night without worring about damaging them. I haven't looked into it much yet though.

coils - I currently have 2.4 on the protank and they feel about perfect for me when the battery is fresh. Would using a 1.8 and droping the wattage on a kick give me same experience and longer life out of battery? 1.8 on a fresh ego is a little to hot for my tastes.

Eventually, I would like to turn this all into more of a hobby rebuilding coils, making my own juice, building a collection and maybe building a truly custom mod but one thing at a time.

Congratulations on making the switch to vaping!

First off, for me personally, the jump from an EGO to an unregulated mod is a bit of a leap. If I were going to suggest anything, is to move towards the regulated mods of larger capacity. For passthroughs, I always love the iTaste " box" mods: MvP v2 or the VTR. But if youre more comfortable with battery operated, models like the Provari or Vamo are always a good beginner to intermediate advancement.

Those types of devices take 18650 or 18350 batteries. The brand is subjective at his level, but Sony batteries are the highest rated batteries currently in the market.

I have to two Intellichargers with 4 ports each and i can comfortably leave them charging all night without worrying of any overcharging.

op i tend to agree that an mvp would be a great choice but if your set in your mind the kts would be a great start... possibly with some type of carto tank would make it even better

I would go with a varible voltage device with variable wattage option. Simply because most kicks i have seen are wattage and you need a basic understanding of ohms law to use them. With voltage its simple then when you are comfortable transfer over to power mode which is wattage and get familar with that. Then move on to mechanical mods.

I prefer a vision spinner or ego twist battery, you just twist the bottom to up the volts when you feel you want more. Its a great upgrade from a reg ego. But if you want the kts I see nothing wrong with that as long as you don't jump into building coils without 1st doing a lot of research here. Also I think dropping the ohms to the 1.8 heads will be to your likings.

As others have mentioned, VV/VW APV would be a good next step. Mechanical mods are more towards RBA/RDA users who want more "freedom" with their coil builds. If you like the look of tube mods, there are several VV/VW options. Vamo, Zmax, SID are all very nice mods and comes with regulator built-in. There are always the premium VV mods like ProVari as well.
Both MVP2 and VTR are very nice box mods as well.
As you are starting out, it is important to have at least one stable and dependable mod that you can always vape with. After that, you can branch out to mech mods.

Wow! Thanks for the quick replies.

I have looked at several of the Provari type mods but I keep being drawn back to the mechmods. I think it's the overall simplistic design yet knowledge required to get the most out of them. Makes it feel more like a hobby. Kind of like shaving with a straight edge razor. As simple as it gets but ya have to know what your doing or your gonna get hurt.

Guess I'm a bit of a nerd cause learning about all this has been just as enjoyable as the vaping.

Thanks for the heads up! I didn't realize the kick was for the 490 or 500 batteries. But that doesn't surprise me because I know next to nothing about a Kick and How it works...Yet. Guess I will have to rethink this part of it.

I do have a general understanding of Ohms Law. My father was an electrician and it's amazing what you pick up over the years with out even realizing it. It's amazing how useful a Fluke meter can be. lol

I do realize there is alot more to learn and that's I why I joined this forum. Collectively all the information I need to know is here. Just have to find it. Not only do I want to know how it all works but Why it works... Yea I'm a geek.

I checked out your posted links and the Evolv link says it's compatible with a 18350 in a 500 tube. Am I missing something? Is it just not recommended?

Damn KTS. Why? Just Why?

I have one. I have 4 x 18650 batteries. I am not buying short batteries and a kick just to use it in "set wattage" mode.

If I did want to do such a thing, I would buy a GOOD mechanical (Nemesis) not a CHEAP mechanical.

I use in full 18650 with AWs and run 1.0 ohm atomizers on it.

I did look at the Nemesis Mod but I'm not really a fan of the bottom fire mechanism. I think the bottom side fire will be more to my liking.

Eventually, I will be looking for a much higher quality Mod but I don't want to drop $150-$200 on a Mech mod until I figure out exactly what style I like.

As far as Batteries I will be purchasing a mod first to see what length will fit my needs then figure out what battery configuration with or without a kick will fit me as well.

What are some of the differences you have noticed between a High end Mods and a China replicas?
