Wow! Thanks for the quick replies.

I have looked at several of the Provari type mods but I keep being drawn back to the mechmods. I think it's the overall simplistic design yet knowledge required to get the most out of them. Makes it feel more like a hobby. Kind of like shaving with a straight edge razor. As simple as it gets but ya have to know what your doing or your gonna get hurt.

Guess I'm a bit of a nerd cause learning about all this has been just as enjoyable as the vaping.

Mech mods are beautiful and nothing wrong with getting them. However, when you are initially starting out, it is more important to have a device that will give you a consistent and reliable vapor. That requires right amount of voltage and resistance against different type of juice. People who have been vaping for a while know which setting they want. But if you aren't familiar with which voltage/wattage goes best with coil resistance level and juice type, you will be spending lots of frustrating hours with mech mods. Unfortunately, this can easily lead to falling on analog for many.
So, get a reliable and easy to use VV/VW initially and just enjoy vaping and quit the analog for good. Once you are over the hump, expand out to other options such as mech.

btw, adjusting voltage with kick requires you to dissemble the mod. on VV/VW, it is a simple click of button. with most of atomizer heads coming out of cheap factories, resistance levels are all over the place and can't be relied on. so, you will end up tweaking the voltage as you start out.

Hello,

Im a new member and excited to be a part of this forum. I got into vaping about a month ago and after several internet searches bringing me to this forum I thought maybe it's time to stop lerking and become a member. I started on some cheap CE4 devise for $15 just to try it out and now I'm hooked. My current setup is a Protank 2 on an EGO 1100 mah and looking to upgrade but wanted to run it by you all to see if I missed anything or you had recommendations. Here's what I'm looking at buying for my protank...

Kamry Teliscopic Storm (KTS) -The current setup feels a bit like a magic wand so I wanted something thicker but still compact. Love the looks of it and the side fire button.

AW 18350 - I want the best battery I can get so if there is something better please let me know. I know the 350 is small but I dont mind swapping batteries. Would rather keep the KTS shorter.

Kick- I hate that I get a great vape off a fresh battery but then the quality drops off. From what I understand a kick will fix that. But no idea which one works best with KTS and 350. Recomendations would be great.

Charger- I want something that I can leave batteries on over night without worring about damaging them. I haven't looked into it much yet though.

Coils - I currently have 2.4 on the protank and they feel about perfect for me when the battery is fresh. Would using a 1.8 and droping the wattage on a kick give me same experience and longer life out of battery? 1.8 on a fresh ego is a little to hot for my tastes.

Eventually, I would like to turn this all into more of a hobby rebuilding coils, making my own juice, building a collection and maybe building a truly custom mod but one thing at a time.

although I am not familiar with this one, I did find online and looks great. I would recommend the Vamo v5 or what I have, V3..I use the Protank 3 on it with great results.

The AW 18350 - these I purchased and love them....button tops

Charger- the Trustfire - im waiting for mine now which should come in tomorrow...heard great things about it.

Coils - I have purchased authentic Kanger single and dual coils but am preferring to re-build and learn to coil on my own. Just purchased 50ft of wick and Kanthal wire to start my little mad experiments..:)

Would using a 1.8 and droping the wattage on a kick give me same experience and longer life out of battery? - I am beginning to believe so...on my Vamo I used a lower Ohm coil and the results are way better with more control over the vaping and taste. Of course, this is quite subjective.

Eventually, I would like to turn this all into more of a hobby rebuilding coils, making my own juice, building a collection and maybe building a truly custom mod but one thing at a time - thats just what I am beginning to do this week. as a matter of fact i just bought a tool kit(pliers, small blower torch,et, atomizer meter, etc) from Ebay to start my learning process...rebuilding coils is the way to go from what I am seeing and reading

happy vaping

I just started usimg a kick today, well mine is a clone.
But still,
I have a chi you clone, looking at getting a k100 as well
So far its working fine
Im trying to figure out how to test my voltage output because my kick doesnt have numbers any where .

Any way im liking it.i perfer my vape around 3.6 volts, i think im close lol.
I build by own coils at 1.5

I just like variety. I have a small collection growing

Well I've mad the decision to Purchase the KTS v2. For $20 I figure if nothing else it would make a good learning tool. This will give me a good ideal as to look and fell of a mod in various battery configurations. I havent purchased any batteries yet but will be making that decision once I've tinkered around with it and figured out what size will fit my needs best.

I understand that a VV/VW devise would be much easier to use but that's what I have my PT2 on an ego for. not much simpler than just pushing a button. This mech is primarily a learning tool for me at this point. Eventually, I will get into RBA/RDA's but that's a long way off.

On a side note I did find a locol guru that has been building custom mechmods clear back when they started out as modified flash lights. Another valuable assett to help with the hands on stuff.

Thanks again everyone.

Welcome to the forum!

Just a heads up, its really not such a good idea to charge batteries while sleeping or while unattended in general.

It's a low chance if you buy good batteries and a good charger but there is always a possibility that something might go wrong and a fire gets started.

I was actually just re-thinking that. Some stuff on Youtube kinda changed my mind. I don't want a little battery setting my house on fire because I was just being lazy. Quality Batteries and Charger have quickly become a must have.

This mech is primarily a learning tool for me at this point.

To clarify, Not to experiment with voltage or wattages I like or what e liquids I like with what set up I prefer. That can all be done on a much safer VV ego first. It will be dismanteld and studied to learn how a basic mod works. Lots of tinkering
