They use lithium ion batteries which have no memory characteristics like the oooold NiCd technology. You can use them as they are and charge when needed. They are usually shipped with a storage charge. No worries about needing an initial long charge.

The only thing I would say is that if you intend to store your battery for long periods of time without using, don't store them fully charged or fully discharged. That can damage them. Other than that, charge them when the voltage cutoff built into the eGo shuts them off or anytime before that. You can also take them off the charger before they are done with no harm other than you won't get as many hours of use before it needs charging again, but that should be rather obvious.

Thanks for the info. My eGo did arrive today (thanks cignot!) and I went ahead and started using one battery while I charge the other up. So far so good and it's true what I've heard about these providing better consistency of vapor :)

Oh, one more question: After a few minutes of vaping, the battery gave me the blinky light and cut off. I assumed it was empty, but a couple minutes later it worked again. Should I stop using it when it blinks or could that have just been a glitch?

if the battery is dead, it will blinky-blinky-blinky then do nothing at all. If its still working but you saw it blink, then you might not have been holding consistent pressure on the button. My button cuts out briefly mid-drag sometimes when I'm pressing it too casually

but really the problem is the cheap ... button itself, doesn't always go off when I want it to but never fails to fire up constantly in my pocket
