Did I ruin my E-Go battery by charging it through my Xbox 360 USB instead of using an outlet?

Hey guys,

I've tried looking this up online but have seen conflicting posts from people.

I have a really good variable voltage Ego battery. Before I had this, I had some of the junky into level ego batteries that weren't variable voltage. With my old ego batteries, I would charge them using any USB port with the charger it came with.

I am afraid that I've ruined this new battery by charging it in my Xbox 360. I never really took note of the output power of USB ports. I only noticed this recently with my cell phone, that charging it in the wall went over twice as fast as charging it in my computer or 360.

Last night, I charged by Ego for 6 hours in my 360, and when I tried to vape it today, it was vaping as if the battery was almost dead. The light turned green after the charge showing it was a full charge but it wasn't hitting right. I plugged it into the wall and now it's been charging for 2 hours.

I guess the 360 just isn't putting out enough power to charge my battery correctly, but I'm worried I did damage to it by charging it this way for a few weeks. My battery and my charger didn't come with any directions so I'm not sure the exact place I was supposed to charge it. I'm using the iPhone outlet adapter now to charge it. My charge is one of those basic black screw on short chargers.

You are not going to damage the battery by charging it on a 360. The USB ports on a 360 are fully powered while it is on or off so that it can charge your controller if you have the rechargeable battery pack. I have never seen or heard of a ego charger that draws more than 0.5 amps which is the minimum current output allowed to be labeled as a usb port.

The real danger here is if the battery charger burns out it could ruin the xbox or anything else it is plugged into. So its best to use a wall adapter, as I would much rather replace a $10 wall adapter than a $300 xbox or $1000 computer. I do use the usb port on my directv DVR alot to charge ego battery's and never had a problem, but it is a rental.

You mentioned that it is a new battery. With most electronic devices that require batteries, the manufacturers usually state that you want to let it charge for a total of 24 hours prior to it's first use. Even if it says it's fully charged. With some lithium batteries they develop a memory and the first charge is very important. It's not too late for you to let it charge for 24 hours. Just throw it on a wall charger, or somewhere that is a constant, reliable power source, and let it sit for a day.
