Well, my first e-cig (DSE901 from e-cigs dot co dot uk) arrived today, and I thought I'd share some first impressions.

Before I go on, it's worth me saying that before purchasing my e-cig, I did an awful lot of research through these forums, the videos the more seasoned members have posted, and the range of reviews on offer.

Not only did this give me some great direction on what to buy, but also a good understanding of what to expect from these devices (rather than taking the here-say and anecdotal information at face value).

Hopefully, also understanding maintenance procedures will also mean I can try to avoid too many dead parts as I go forward.

As such, I went into this knowing that carts don't last very long, what techniques can work, various ways of topping of/refilling, etc, and this has definitely been a great help in not being disappointed with my purchase.

So far, I'm impressed. Instead of going for a cigarette, I've simply gone for a few puffs on my e-cig. Flavour is considerably different to a cigarette, but I would have to say in a good way. I've got an Evo on the way as well, so looking forward to trying that to see how both my e-cigs compare.

So, to any other would-be beginner e-smokers, I would recommend doing plenty of reading and viewing of technique, maintenance and review videos here to make sure you fully understand how to treat these little devices, and I guarantee you will be far happier with your potential purchase than you would be otherwise.

Dave.

Well, having now gone past my first 50 days, I thought I'd post a quick update on how I'm getting on...

I enjoyed my DSE901 for a few days, but got bitten by the bug which seems to get most people in the end, namely that I wanted to try a different model as well.

I purchased a range of Intellicig's Evolution (m401 derivative) equipment, and to me, the difference between that & the 901 was huge, with the Evo becoming my primary device.

Recently, I've gone through the same process of switching to the TECC 510 Titan, and that is blowing me away!

I seem to have spent a fortune so far (when I add everything up), but I'm maintaining a spreadsheet of all my purchases which separates out the costs of equipment vs. more "consumable" supplies, and I'm clearly ahead of the game from a financial perspective.

Overall, really enjoying my devices, plus giving up analogs has been pretty much effortless. Thanks again to all those here who provide reviews & advice - much appreciated.

Ok, after some research, I decided on the 901 as well. I received it today and was sooo excited to go out and try it, I put two ppl on hold and left out the door. Don't ask where I work. ;-)

So I put my e-cig together and take my first pull; ok second pull, I was testing it at my cube; but it was my first official pull. Short of the vapor, I felt like it was a Nicotrol Inhaler. So then remembering that the starter kit came with 5 "assorted" flavors, I pullout my "Marlburro" cartridge and tried again. Well suffice to say, I'm still craving the lung fill up. I was trying to remember everything I've read over the past few weeks, and my brain went blank. I think I took too many puffs...I got a little head rush, like when you have the first cigarette of the day.

Long story short, I wanted to quit real cigarettes by Monday, but I think it's going to take a little while longer.

I need to re-read how to pull in the vapor and remember it's not the same process.

On a good note, I do believe that I can stop smoking "analogs" with this...I just have to look at it from the point of when I went from Menthol to Non-Menthol. It takes practice.

@IRT73 - I found that the 901 needed a while to "break-in". I understand that the atomisers ship soaked in some sort of fluid that needs to disappear before you get the full benefit of the carts. After a couple of days with mine, performance was in a different class to when it first came out of the box. Also, you'll probably need to take longer drags then you would on an analog - that's when you really start to get a good blast of vapour.

I just wanted to second bard's recommendation on taking plenty of time to read and get a good understanding. I did the same and watched a lot of reviews. I settled on the 510 and I'm very glad I did. Only real mistake I made was not going ahead and ordering liquid from the same company, or better yet, not waiting until my liquid purchased arrived before starting, that was a let down, but a mistake I won't repeat. Once again, thanks to everyone on the forum for the amazing wealth of knowledge base.
