Welcome Carpetgrass!

Yes, ECF is a pretty grand place. Susan~S has hooked you up with some great starting information - especially the blogs by Baditude.

There are so many options these days - mechanical mods and cartomizers back in the earlier days; variable voltage/wattage topping out around 11-15W when I first started about 18 months ago. Now, it's hundreds of watts and temperature control.

I'm pretty simplistic with my vaping - I have mods that top out from 30-50W and use Nautiluses, Protanks and some Subtanks. I like cloud, but I want flavor more.

I always throw the following for consideration:
* Tube, Box, or Stick form?
* Internal or replaceable batteries?
* Tight airflow or loose draw?
* Do you want to build your own coils or do you want to pop them from a blister pack?

There are thousands of combinations available, but there is at least one that will be right for you!

Wow the 4 questions to consider are great! Yes, i am torn between a box and stick. There are pros and cons for both i suppose. But as a beginner, i suppose i just watch something that i can "plug and play" before i learn about the intricacies of a more complicated set up. For the 2nd, 3rd and 4th questions, i guess it will be when i form my own preference after awhile. Really heartened to see the friendliness of the members in this forum. good stuff!

I find the iStick 30W to be a nice compromise between box and stick. I have a regulated tube mod and a mechanical tube mod. They're both heavy, and don't go outside to play. I just ordered a few more iStick 30s because they are my on-the-go favorite mod. I have an iStick 50 which is KILLER for battery life (and nice to be able to use when I want to run a little below 1ohm with my Subtanks or RDAs.

If your budget allows, you might consider a couple of different devices and toppers. Besides, rule number one of vaping - BACKUPS, BACKUPS, BACKUPS :)

ETA - the only choices that are "wrong" are the ones where you don't pick safe combinations (e.g. resistance so low that your battery can't function properly.)

Hi folks

I'm new to this. Been a moderately heavy smoker since for near 15 years since i was a teenager. My first child is coming real soon so i have been on cold turkey from cigarettes. Kinda tough and learnt about e-cigarettes. Looking to learn more about it and hope it can help me quit smoking so as to see my child grow up. Also, saw first hand what smoking can do to my FIL.

cheers and looking to hear from like minded people here!
Good battery and tank and it's easy. Don't go for the cheap basic one. I tried and still smoked. Now I'm not thanks to good equipment
