Just thought I'd share a biginner mistake I made.

Got my supply of 100mg/ml nicotine, 100% VG, some PG and some VG and thought I'd make up some 18mg (it's what I usually vape) unflavored juice to try.

Plugged all the variables into a juice calculator, got my syringes and bottle ready and mixed according to the calculator.

Went to ty it out and it was very harsh.

OK - three possibilities here. One is that the nic I got has a harsh taste. The second is that the vendor goofed and it's not 100mg nic, but something else. The third is that something went wrong with the mix.

I decided to put the bottle aside until my flavorings and nicotine test kit came in. When I got them, I tested my mix, and it came out to 45mg/ml. so now it's looking like either the vendor goofed or something went wrong with the mix.

So I get the bottle of nic. That's when I noticed the caution in BIG BOLD RED LETTERS that says "SHAKE WELL BEFORE EACH USE"

The bottle had 100mg/ml of nic in it, but wasn't fully and evenly disbursed throughout the liquid. Not the vendor's fault, bu mine for not reading carefullybefore proceeding.

Make sure your nic supply is well disbursed each time you use it and alway run a bit through a test to ensure you know what you are using in your recipes.

Hope it helps and Happy (and safe) Vaping!

I do 50/50 and always get the nic in PG and still shake alot. I remember a newer supplier here dropped $40 G's on a proper mixer because many wanted VG nic. Maybe some don't want to spend that much.

Glad you caught it but worried about those that haven't yet. Maybe an email to your supplier would be good??

    Thanx for posting this!

I buy mine from a vendor that has a mixer like that and never need to worry about shaking my nic before mixing. They are expensive but nic vendors should have them IMO

I saw a few people elsewhere have a similar issue with their nic being higher than stated. I was stunned when the vendor told them it was their fault because they did not shake it well enough

I'm thinking that if a mixer cost that much, properly mixing nic into the VG might be something that a simple shaking cannot accomplish??

If we're talking about adding 1000mg nic into a bottle of VG it could have easily been a pocket of 990mg nic that he tested on himself.

This is a toxic poison at those levels??

1000 mg nic is 100% nic, not a solution. Toxic.

I wondered about that. I get my nic in VG. Even warmed up it's kind of thick. You couldn't really mix it by shaking the bottle. I have to assume it's mixed when it leaves the seller. If I order 4 1/4L bottles of nic I doubt if they mix each bottle separately. Surely they would mix a few liters and bottle from that. So rightly or wrongly I only worry about separation in the bottle. I've looked for info here, some people say that can happen, some say not.

But after reading OP's story I think I'll have to figure out a way of stirring up the nic, and maybe get a test kit.

If you heat VG to 150 deg F or so, shaking works pretty well.

You can also rotate the bottle while turning it upside down and right side up. Takes longer, but it works
