Beginner Needs Advice on What to Buy...

Hello,
I am a newbie, meaning I have tried other peoples ecigs, but that is it. I have done some research and believe that I am ready to finally buy. I'm willing to put a nice investment into this, but I don't want to end up buying a new ecig a month later. I'm looking for suggestions on a good ecig, preferably one that comes in a starter kit, though I don't really want one intended to be just a "starter" per say. I have been looking at the VaperZone Pro, Halo Trition, and Volcano Inferno. I'm currently leaning towards the Inferno, just because there are various tank methods and it seems like a good price for what you get. I think I have a pretty good sense of knowledge here, but when it comes to experience, I have zero. Any suggestions and advice will be welcome. Thanks so much.

Welcome to the forum from another relative newb. If you have any B&M stores in your area, I'd suggest going in and talking to someone at a local shop. You'll be able to see different models in person and get opinions on what will best suit your personal needs. I personally started with a Smok Winder kit that I picked up in my local B&M for about $60, which included two batteries, two tanks and a charger. Within a month, I upgraded to a regulated mod but that's just me...

My personal favorites are bottom coil glass/clearomizer like a kanger pro tank 3 or 2 or the mini versions. These take replaceable atomizer heads to run. Get a decent mod aka batterie with variable voltage a good starter in my opinion is the joy tech ego c twist 1000mah. But there are way better if you got the cash with digital readouts and all kinds of flashy bells and whistles. Look around this is a good forum I'm sure someone with a bit more knowledge will post soon.

Nobody listens to me, because I am from a weird country that people are rightly wary of.

Volcano? LOL :) What a joke their prices are.

Vapour Zone too. Pretending a kit is $85 to sell it to you for $49 is a sham.

I have priced up that kit in the UK (which is 10% more expensive than the US) and it's a not even a $40 kit.

The world of the e-cig - got to love it. No greed here at all. :)

The bricks and mortar store advice is good. I started with ego style stick batteries and then got an MVP, which is terrific. When I first got the MVP, I was mad that I had bought the stick batteries. But you know what, I still use them. If you are going out and about it's a much more convenient form factor than a box mod or really any kind of mod (they're big, as in is that a mod in your pocket or are you happy to see me big). Long car trip=MVP. Quick car trip + some walking around, etc. = egos. The MVP will do just about anything you want from a power source except extreme vaping techniques (subohm for really "chucking clouds").

Then you have to consider your head or atomizer. I think I would bypass the ce type clearomizers and go straight to evod and aspire bdc. Or one of the iclear slim tanks. These have low capacity, but otherwise really vape nicely. They are easy to use and fill and are good on the go. You can move up to larger tanks and rebuildables, but the slim tanks are still useful.

Also, whatever tanks/clearos you decide on, get at least one glass one. Odds are good that you will like a "tank cracker" juice (menthol, cinnamon, citrus) that will make plastic tanked clearos deteriorate before your eyes. Aspire BDC has one that is glass encased in stainless that is durable and works a treat.

Hello, and welcome!

Below are some blog posts by ECF member Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping.

1. A Good Starter's Setup for a Beginning Vapor
2. Advancing Up the Vaping Ladder with Egos and Mods
3. Proper terminology - Is it a carto, a tank, or what? A Guide to Juice Attachments.

Depends on what you are going for. Most people tend to start on the Kanger EVod style of kits. Which are not bad for starters. However, if you like vaping, then you will want to move up. I would suggest something like the Innokin MVP 2 box mod. It is VV/VW and has plenty of power for a beginner. It also has a built in ohm meter so you can test your coils if you get into rebuildables. It will allow almost every kind of tank out there to fit, as well. It is fairly inexpensive and gives you a wide range for growth.

As for tanks, that gets a bit more involved. Are you looking to rebuild or just replace atomizer coils? I started out on evod like systems and it wasn't long before I moved on to RBA / RDA and mech mods. I prefer rebuildables now, as well as mech mods. But for a beginner, it may behoove you to buy an MVP2 and something like the Kanger protanks to get started.

By all means, check out Bad's blog entries, lots of good info.

And you really should get (at least) two of everything. Stuff happens, and you don't want to be left in the lurch if something breaks - or even waiting for your only battery to charge!

I'd suggest that you seriously consider anything that will let you customize your vape. So look for at least VV - variable voltage. A VV/VW (variable wattage) device gives you two ways to adjust, but either will let you "tune" the power to the coil and flavor.

Vision Spinners are a good choice, imo easier to read the dial than the Twist line.

The Innokin VV3 is a nice, although small (800 mAh) capacity, VV/VW device, as is it's big brother the MVP2 (2600 mAh). (Which isn't as big as you might think for its huge capacity.)

The higher the mAh rating, the longer you can vape before needing to charge.

Like many, I prefer bottom coil toppers, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a bottom and a top coil one to see which you prefer. Tastes and preferences vary, and only you can tell what's best for you. The Kanger T3S, Protank models, the Davide line, are all solid choices for bottom coils. And I'd suggest you get comfortable with this type of clearo before delving into anything "rebuildable."

Same with flavors - and here a local B&B with a tasting bar is a great way to at least narrow the field for the types of flavors you like.

It depends a bit on what you're willing to spend. If you got the money, I would go for a Provari. It's a steady and good mod which gives you exactly what you ask it to give you and the value-drop isn't that big for reselling.
I know I couldn't afford a provari when I started, and probably neither do you. So.

I would recommend the Vision spinner II for batteries, if you buy a bigger, more fancy mod in the near future, it's good to have a back-up, so it doesn't matter. But if you're quitting analogs, get at least two, you don't want to be without power for an instant!
As for tanks, I love the kanger aerotank mini, which fits the vision spinner, and just works perfectly every vape. It has the taste near to a kayfun, is smaller, not a rebuildable, so great for beginners. You just need to change the atomizer headevrey two weeks or so, and that's really intuitively easy.

Godd luck on your switch!
