Hello! Been creeping the forums for a few weeks now, thought I'd finally pop in! I'll start off with a big thank you to all for being such a wonderful resource! So much useful information here!

Started vaping two weeks ago. I wasn't a heavy smoker, just around 5 analogs a day. Been wanting to knock the habit and it looks like vaping will work for me! I decided to go with the 510-t system and I'm enjoying it so far. I got to try the regular 510 and that hits and tastes better but I just love the convenience of the tanks!

I've been looking into some mods and I was wondering if using the 510-t on a 3.7v mod would give me a more flavorful and more consistent vape? The longer battery life would be a huge plus as well. Since I wasn't a heavy smoker I thought I'd be fine on a 510 battery but I am finding myself vaping all the time! Do you guys have any recommendations for affordable 3.7v mods? I'm looking into the HotBox from Ace of Vapes. Reo Mini looks great too but pretty pricey.

Also, I am in Canada and I hear there's some trouble dealing with customs when ordering from the US. Is that just for nic-juice or would customs have issues with parts/mods/pv units as well?

A RoughStack from MadVapes is a good bet. You can get the PV alone for $40, or a kit for $70: RoughStack V2 Kit

They also have something called an E-Power, which has an eGo-like appearance but uses a replaceable 3.7V 14650 battery, as opposed to the eGo proprietary battery (which delivers noticeably less than 3.7V throughout most of its drain cycle): E-Power Replacable Battery kit!

I can't speak for Canadian customs, however.

Hello, xvii, welcome to ECF :)

I can't say what the deal is with customs and Canada, but you might look around the Canada forum and see if there's anything info there on it. If you can get yourself up to 5 posts here (ask lots of questions, thank people for their welcomes, etc.) in the new members forum, you can post there as well.

Just as an aside, I doubt you'll see a lot of difference with a 3.7v mod, 5v, though, will make a big difference.

Rob has shipped quite a few REOs to Canada.
Great! A bit pricey for me right now but a reo is definitely on my wishlist!

How close is a 3.7v to the 510? I'm just wondering if maybe a 510 to 5v is a huge jump? Although looking through threads and videos a lot of people are vaping at 3.7v and 5v so I guess I can't go wrong with either. Also, I'm assuming the 510-tanks and attys will work as long as the battery mod has a 510 thread right?

I do have a HotBox from ace of vapes and it works great. What I like about it is that everything you could want is in the HotBox, and the PC charging cable so you don't need a charger. It is very reasonably priced and you can use it while it is charging from your PC, so its like a passthru. It also has a off switch thats nice if you put it in ypur pocket or purse. I have had it for 2 months and no problems at all. You might order a backup battery just to have one on hand (It comes with a battery) and a replacement battery is alot cheaper than buying a Joye or Rive battery by itself. You might order a wall charger if you want one instead of using the PC to charge it, I just use the PC to charge so I can vape too. You can not get all this any cheaper in one mod unless you build it your self. It is a box mod so IF you wan't something round like a cigar then get the Riva kit. I don't know about customs but I don't think that would be a problem with the mod. or any kit with out e-liquid. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your input all!

wyojoe, that's good to hear about the hotbox! I quite like the look and size of it. Still have some research to do (lots of choices!) but I might just go with that one!

LNCHBX, awesome! I've been avoiding looking at non Canadian suppliers this whole time cause I've been scared of customs lol now I've got lots more places to shop around in!

Just an addition to my post, the Hotbox has a 900-mAh battery so it lasts longer between charges. Some mods look good until you discover you need to buy a battery and charger also. With the HotBox you have everything for one price. The Ego and Riva batteries in the smaller kits have 650-mAh to 750-mAh batteries. The HotBox does kind of look like a toy because you can see every thing inside, but you can replace a battery yourself for the small price of a new battery, just make sure to use protected batteries like the one that it comes with. You can buy a prettier mod but this works great for the cost.
