beginners RBA/RDA

I have a few questions in regards to RBA/rda, im new to the rebuildable world and i was wondering:

What is the difference between RBA and rda? I know RBA stands for rebuildable atomizer but RDA?
What was your first RBA/RDA?
What RBA device with a tank do you guys recommend for use with my apollo vtube mini and a AW IMR 18350 battery? (not trying to do sub ohm builds at the moment)

sorry if these questions have been answered before it is just so much information being shared on these sites i cant quite understand certain things.

rda is a rebuidable dripping atomizer there is no tank you drip juice directly onto the wick... use a igo w (rda) and a kayfun lite (rba)

RDA = Rebuildable Drip Atomizer. They do not have tanks. You have to take the top off and add a few drops of liquid every few puffs.

As far as a tank RBA goes, it's very hard to beat the ever popular Kayfun/Russians. I've got a Kayfun 3.1 clone and absolutely love it. 4.5ml tank capacity out of the box and it can be upgraded to 10ml tank capacity if you want. If I could find a way to make it 100% leak free while carrying it in my pocket or coat I wouldn't use anything else.

I am also looking to start getting involved with RBAs. I'm a bit confused with RBAs as well. Because RBAs aren't a 'dripping atomizer' can we assume that it's similar to a clearomizer tank in a sense that there's some storage/reservoir for juice?

RBA is rebuildable atomizer, RDA is a reference within the RBA class standing for rebuildable dripping atomizer. This will be an atomizer normally with a deck, 2 to 4 posts for the heating wire and its top cap. May have a small well for holding some eliquid, look up IGO-W for starter reference.

I started with an AGA rebuildable Tank atomizer. Similar except it was a genesis type atomizer (SS mesh wick). I would say as a starting point a rebuildable dripping atomizer is a great. It allows u to build coils using whatever wicking medium u choose (silica/ekowool/cotton/SS mesh). U should prob start with 1/2/3 mm silica and 32 or 30 gauge Kanthol. Get uself a way to measure ur coils when u attach it to the posts. Wether it be ur mod or a ohm meter fr Home Depot or elsewhere. Build 1.2 to 1.6 ohm coils and drip u eliquid onto it and enjoy.

there's a pic of the "internals" of an rda a cap so to speak then go over it... you can if you want drip juice right through the drip tip i tend to take mine off though. there is usually a lowered base where the wick or cotton sits so you don't over drip. i hope this helps

It's similar, but not the same.

In an RBA like the Kayfun, there is a tank that stores the liquid. There are then channels that the juice flows down on to the atomizer head.

The atomizer itself works as a Dripping Atomizer. It's not inside the tank, it's below it. The liquid is dripped from the flow channels on to the atomizer via air pressure difference when you suck on it. It works like a dripping atomizer, it just has a storage tank and juice channels that take care of the dripping rather than you having to remove a cap and drip more liquid into the atomizer yourself.

I've seen the Kayfun / Russian type RDAs referred to as RTA's - just to really confuse the issue.

I think it's to differentiate between them and the genesis style RDAs like the RSSTs, AGAs etc.

Ugh, so many acronyms and abbreviations.

As for a great beginning RBA, I would also recommend a kayfun style tank. They are pretty easy to set up and work almost flawlessly. They also provide an excellent vape. You can get a clone for between $30-50

If you want to try an RDA, I always recommend the Igo-L as a first dripper. It has a large deck for easy rebuilding, a nice big lip on the bottom of the drip cup to catch over-drips and can be had for around $10. It also doesn't look too bad on most setups.

thanks guys, I just purchased an iGO L to get me started off ebay for a little over 10 bucks and some 28 gauge kanthal wire i have some cvs sterile cotton so I'll be building some coils later on this week hopefully. I have a multi meter so im ready to go I think

iGo L is a great place to start. Save the tanks and wells for when you get the coils down. At the start you'll be building a lot of coils for practice and its a pain draining tanks.

I have a Kayfun 3.1 and the IGO-W and honestly, don't like the RDA that much. I have regulated mods so sub-ohm-ing is off the table, a single micro coil produces no vapor for me, building two coils identically.........and high enough for my battery to fire makes my head hurt and I have tried various amounts of cotton with no better results. Whereas the Kayfun just required some messing with the amount of cotton to use.

I admit that I am new and I also would agree with anyone who said it was user error but IMO, the Kayfun has been easier to figure out.

I started with a patriot clone RDA, found it easy to build for and try new coils. Have now picked up a original patriot also instead of trying a different RDA. Guess I know what I like. Have had great flavor with twisted coils.
