These tests below only note the estimated ratings for these batteries at the time I tested them. Any battery that is not a genuine Samsung, Sony, LG, Panasonic, or Sanyo can change at any time! This is one of the hazards of using “rewrapped” or batteries from other manufacturers so carefully research any battery you are considering using before purchasing.

Misusing or mishandling lithium-ion batteries can pose a SERIOUS RISK of personal injury or property damage. They are not meant to be used outside of a protected battery pack. Never exceed the battery’s current rating and keep the plastic wrap and top insulating ring in perfect condition.

Testing batteries at their limits is dangerous and should never, ever, be attempted by anyone who has not thoroughly studied the dangers involved, understands the risks, has the proper equipment, and takes all appropriate safety precautions.

If the battery has only one current rating number, or if it only says "max", then I have to assume the battery is rated at that current level for any type of discharge, including continuous.

    Bottom Line
This cell performs identically to the incredible Samsung 30T, including temperature, but is in a different steel can. I was told it is a Samsung 30T by Ampking but I am unable to explain the use of a different can.

The Samsung 30T and its rewraps, like this Ampking, are the highest performing and hardest hitting cells available to us as of May, 2018.

This Ampking’s “40A-50A” current rating is exaggerated and undefined but the 3000mAh capacity rating is accurate.

I am estimating this Ampking’s ratings at 35A and 3000mAh, same as the Samsung 30T.

Two cells were donated for the purposes of testing by Ampking (www.ampking.com). Thank you!

    Performance Specs
    • DC Internal Resistance = 11.5mOhms (milliohms) average for the two cells.
    • Total energy delivered down to 3.2V at 10A continuous = 9.8Wh (Watt-hours) average
    • Total energy delivered down to 3.2V at 20A continuous = 8.7Wh (Watt-hours) average
    • Total energy delivered down to 3.2V at 30A continuous = 7.1Wh (Watt-hours) average

    What's up? :)
By the way, this cell (Sammie 30T) could technically be rated “40A”, doesn't it?
Of course this is not to judge Mooch's criteria, in fact I also identify myself with a sort of “cautious” approach, always better in the name of safety and usage lifespan. :pop:
Looking forward for the INR18650-20S review. “S” is Samsung's new high discharge class surname for 18650s, I presume. Top class, by the way. :thumb:

    Cheers ;)

No, it is a 35A battery. I did not invent a “cautious” rating for it...

Mmmkay, what I see here is that you are sticking to Samsung's official specifications for the 30T, doesn't it?
You can do this here because you have the brand's spec sheet and you've been officially told this is a Samsung 30T cell, but these facts are not necessarily the norm. Like in many of your rewrap reviews, namely with cells coming from unknown chinese OEMs (like 26650s) for example. o_O
Oh well, keep up the good work.

    Cheers :)

Yes, when the datasheet is available I will use those values (or lower if it’s an overrated China cell). :)

I don’t understand how China cells figure in to this conversation though.

    BTW
