Hi
I have had my ego for 2 weeks i loved it in the beginning but now both the batteries i got with it are deminishing in performance i no longer get good vapes from it. I have tried changing atomizers but same problem.

Having owned greensmokes and other brand in the past i have realised that most of the batteries out there are not good and dont do so many charging cycles. I want something where i can change the batteries cheaply (around $22 for an ego battery gets expensive)

I was considering the silver bullet but they are a bit heavy... the omega but apparently it can fire in your pocket easily and there is no good carry case available to prevent this. I looked at the BB and also the screwdriver. You can get very cheap batteries for all these at dealextream.com ($2-3 each) which is idea.

So basically i want a long lasting battery, that is cheap to replace, and a unit thats not incredibly heavy or bulky to carry around. Idealy a smaller or lightweight (plastic?) unit which takes the 18650 battery or similar would be ideal. Although much smaller i was also looking at the janty/joye stick because again you can get those batteries very cheaply and can get a 501 adapter for them.

Ive already spent about $800 on various kit, in alittle over 6 weeks initially i bought all the brands like greensmoke etc which most people seem to make the same mistake as me before they realise 501/901 and direct dripping etc is a much better system.

So where should i go from here?

Thanks

It's unusual for an eGo's performance to degrade in only two weeks.

Are you cleaning the threaded end of the battery often? I wipe it out with a q-tip every time I change the cartomizer or atomizer -- and before I place it on the charger. I also clean the threaded end with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip about once every day. There's almost always black gunk on the q-tip.

I don't have any other answers, since the eGo has the longest life of any of the standard batteries, as far as I know.

I wouldn't go anywhere just yet. The Ego has an extremely positive track record for performance so I would fix what I have before looking for something else. Details about the issue will help members help you. What exactly is the problem?

1st thing I would do is clean it; especially the battery and the charger threads.

there arent any premade plastic ones that fit the 18650 battery....you just cant find an 18650 battery box made for them... you'd have to get a project box and do a mod yourself..

failing that take a look at the ali'i from Welcome to R&R Manufacturing - Handcrafted Battery Box Mods
or the 18650 precise from Super T Manufacturing, Innovative manufacturer of electronic cigarette products.

neither are the cheapest but ones a juice feeder and handmade wood box mod.... the other is all stainless, all mechanical, and has a lifetime warranty

while the eGo types are ok for what they are and as stock batteries go... they really can't handle a 510 atty much less a LR atty without degrading over time and losing their ability to hold a charge... yeah a 18650 battery can and is a wise choice...but you either got to build the mod yourself or make concessions in reguards to whats on the market

It sounds like your describing my lastest mod. The battery (14500) maybe a little smaller than what you want but this thing is light and easy to pocket with master on/off switch no pocket mis fires and with a recessed xl carto no atty connector getting broken. Usually lasts about 8 hours after filling and putting in new battery and I chain vape.

Yes, they are. I've relegated mine to permanent occupancy of a desktop, because it's just too large to be mobile (unless you carry a purse).

Actually, any 18650-powered device is going to be a tad large. The BB is a good bet, very well-made and shirt-pocketable. The Precise 16340 by Super T Manufacturing is absolutely beautiful and only 2.9" long:

Beware of cheap batteries, however. Their voltage output will drop considerably long before they're exhausted; their protection circuits are erratic and you'll find yourself replacing them more often than had you spent the extra $5 to $10 for a good battery.

The JStick V3 isn't a bad choice...even to have around for backup.

The batts don't last more than 2-3 hours but they are very cheap and with the usb charging on board, you can usually top up/off in the car, PC, wall, etc...

I moved "up" from the JSV3 to a 14500 Bartleby. Same great usb options, similar small footprint and 6 or so hours of life.

What ever you pick out for him it will be you fault every time something goes wrong with it, BTDT, but you have to try.

I agree a 2-piece with 510 or 901/808D-1 threads so he has the option of attys, regular cartos, CE2 cartos, short batteries, long batteries, and replacement parts can be found anywhere. He might not want to refill at first so pre-filled cartos would be a good start. If he ever went bigger, 510 or 808D-1 mods would make his stuff upward compatible ($$).

An 808D-1 cheap kit would be my suggestion.

personally I dislike their product... their prefilled cartos seem to have a perfume/chemical/flowery taste to them..

and they recently switched their auto batteries to sound activated rather than vacume activated..

there are other KR808d-1 vendors with better cartos and products

there are plenty of complaints but often get deluged and burried by the cult following

Who is your favorite carto supplier then? I've never been fond of carto's myself, but this guy never could figure out atomizers. I tried and tried to get him started with a 905 I got him last year for xmas. He either ran it to dry and hacked his lungs apart with burnt drags. Or overfilled them and sucked in a big mouthful of juice lol. He's ready for another go he thinks and was going to order another Greensmoke kit against my warnings. So now he wants me to "find" him an ideal kit.

i really don't have a favorite carto supplier...but among the ones I've tried the ones from them were the worst... vapornine turbos are good...nhaler mega cartos are pretty good, the puresmoker ace and their atomz are popular, even cigeasy is popular
