Trapped within my imagination
Hi nuck.. This sounds perfect for my hubby, who says eveything I get him to try vaping taste like pipe tobacco or a cigar/sweet or fruity ( he'd prolly be thrilled vapin an ashtray, at first lol)....I noticed the tobacco absolute and malito is from a perfume site... ok to vape? You'd said one of them were listed in an e- liquid.. So stands to reason...

Something missing> Have you tried mixing this with a mild nice tasting tobacco flavor base? I think the virginia from Myvaporstore is not as sweet as most other places, nice flavor but, to me seems to be missing a lil something or maybe a flu cured tobacco..Unless your wanting complete DIY...

I also just watched an awesome review of vapornines Vanilla Vice flavor as well as read how several people really like it... However, I cant seem to place an order no matter what I try ((rebooting, cookies. refreshing).. I accidently put more in my cart then I wanted and you can delete it..But, there is no update button.. I just checked its stilll there.. I want to try it dang it! lol

Anyway... I'll be watching to see what you guys come up with...thanks

Nuck!
well..I finally received the ethyl maltol & the tobacco absolute and 70% absinthe (which I hope is green?) ! and finally tried your mix..
WOW!!:thumb:
I added 2 drops of tobacco absolute into 2 ml absinthe ..instead of 1 drop as thought it wasn't enough but you're right..it does have a slight ashtray taste..so next 5ml batch I will stick to your initial recommendation 1 drop/2ml..
But this is amazing !
I now finally have a solution for the stockpile of tasteless I bought..for me, this far surpasses Lorann candy flavors which almost got too sickeningly sweet or lost their flavors quickly!!
You must have some very refined tastebuds to differentiate the small details of taste..it was amazing how that tiny tiny drop of diluted menthol changed & softened the taste..
I've been vaping Marlboro and Riskee(although 50% diluted) for months..and this comes extremely close.. and even better with a little bite to it!!
I'm not sure I even want to add any more "caramel" taste that you are thinking about..ethyl maltol according to Wiki is already a caramelized taste..?
Thank you so much!! Brilliant!

Nuck! One more thing..I love that it is a clear solution - I am always worried the darker the mix the worse the atomizer gets gunked up!..and I did indeed get a "half life" on my atomizers with the recent Lorann mixes..or some dark looking undiluted flavors from suppliers
so IMO this surely will be an atomizer friendly mix ...
so excited!!

I'm the same way. I always look for the clear liquids when I vape, it just feels a bit safer.

I ordered some vanilla from Tim to see if just a bit will round out the flavour..hopefully not enough to taste it, but maybe just enough add some body. Then again, I just really like vanilla and this was an excuse to get some :)

I got me tobacco absolute from the perfumer's apprentice today....I'm at work and couldn't really whip up a batch of extra stong e-liquid, so I dipped a paperclip in the absolute, then into my cart, and topped it up w/ RY4.....man this stuff is GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!! I can't say it tasted like a real cig, but it's definitely a bump up in flavour, kinda earthy like Nuck said...really tasty. I'm gonna make another order right now, and get some of that Ethyl maltol stuff too, all my tobacco liquids are getting SUPERCHARGED tonight!!! Except my Cigar from electronicstix, that's alright as it is.

Isn't it great!..definitly becoming a favorite of mine, especially in the morning:thumb:
I've only tried the tobacco absolute diluted in the 70% absinthe though as per Nuck's instructions i-so maybe the tobacco taste I'm loving is much softer than what you're getting now ..

I should have some vanilla tomorrow and I have some some more samples from the same place that we get ethyl maltol that I know the ecig manufactures use to try find the flavour that will round it out. I'm pretty sure we can come up with something that is nice without having the candy undertones most of the tobacco flavours seem to use.

Its awesome stuff! I think i may just hit Vapesmart up for some unflavored 36mg and add the absolute to it in small batches. I don't think I'll need to dilute it, it sticks nice to a paperclip, so I'm just gonna dip and stir, dip and stir til it seems right, drip smoke it and see what happens.

Like hit the floor! :) I really only got it to pump up my blander tasting liquids, I only vape tobacco flavours, and I could really get into DIY with this stuff.

P.S. Misty, those diodes work. I added a IN4007 to my 6 volt, and it has definitley dropped a bit in power. We'll see how long my attys last now.

Nuck - Can't wait to see the newest ingredients you're experimenting with to "round off" this already great mix!

PS Did you ever try any of the flavorings you got from liquidexpress or too candy like?

I really like most of the liquid express flavours I've tried so far and a few have become my favourites. They are great for people like me that vape at 12mg to 14mg. I wouldn't recommend them for people that hit the 24-36mg since some of the flavours can require up to a 40% mix to get a solid hit of flavour.

He is supposed to be coming out with a kick ... grape that testers were raving about. Looking forward to that one. He also has a vanilla in testing but I haven't heard anything either way on it.

I keep hearing great things about JuicyLiquid flavors. I can't wait until he starts selling the flavor packs without nicotine so we can enjoy them up here in Canada.

I used 1 drop of tob. abs. per 2 ml.
...
I'm still trying to find a way to round out the taste. Tried a bit of caramel last night but that wasn't right. There still seems to be an ingredient missing that would allow the taste of the tobacco to be strengthened without getting into the ashtray flavour.

Thanks for your research. I will get some of the tobacco absolute and ethyl maltol. I noticed on the website you recommended that they also have something called "tobacco key accord" and they provide the formula for it, but it appears to be composed of a few chemicals and herbal components. Does anyone know if a key accord is a recipe to make tobacco scent or flavoring without actual tobacco, or if they are safe to vape?

No clue on the safety of the key accord, then again I have no idea how safe tobacco absolute is. I haven't used the key accord so I can't really say if it will be worth trying.

Nuck - been reading your post with quite a bit of interest.

Pretty new at this so I hope my questions aren't too silly.

I've bought pure spearmint powder and menthol crystals and am wanting to make a spearmint\menthol mix.

When you say 25% crystals and 75% absinthe - you're mixing dry volume (crystals) with liquid volume (absinthe)?

If I want to mix a 10 mL batch, would I crush the crystals and push them into a syringe to 2.5 mL and then add 7.5 mL absinthe? Or is this totally off base?

Do you buy your absinthe online? Do liquor stores carry absinthe?

Thanks

Whatever quantity you are making, just fill is 1/4 full of crystals. I crush them up a bit to make sure there isn't much air. Fill the rest with the alcohol.

I got my absinthe at the local liquor store (LCBO). It was Hills brand and was 70%.

Let us know how the spearmint goes. That could be a really nice mix.

Thanks so much Nuck!

I'll let you know how it goes. Now I'm patiently (?) waiting for all the supplies to arrive.

I know how that feels...I currently have about 9 small orders of random stuff working it's way slowly toward me. My mail delivery woman must think I'm some sort of high tech crack dealer.

Just to let you know, absinthe has a fair bit of sugar in it.. so your atty is not gonna like that!

With the amounts we're talking it shouldn't make any difference. I've never killed an atomizer and I've been vaping since Jan 9th. Well...I dismantled one to see what it was like on the inside and I stress tested one to death when checking voltage tolerance but never killed one from vaping.
