I've been using a saddle-valve to punch cartos. It does the job but distorts the shape of the carto. This can make it very difficult to slide the carto through the tank grommets.

I've seen some of the specialty tools offered by various vendors but the reviews complain about the same problem.

Is there something better out there? And no I don't have a Dremel.

Thanks, JJ

TNT says the $40 carto punch at Clouds of Vapor does a great job, but for that price I'll just go with the laser drilled cartos. Using those provide me with consistancy, carto to carto, and eliminates the potential human errors involved with self-punching cartos. They aren't that much more expensive, either.

Sorry if that didn't help. I've used the Siam Mods punch tool v2 sold by Phiniac. Same issue with distorted cartos. Tried dremmeling a slot one time and flooded the carto badly.

I'll spend the money after punching over 100 cartos, with the one from Clouds of vapor. I can buy 50 unpunched LR boges from Surevapes for 43.99 free shipping. I got one of the cheepes coming from Phiniac cause I need some extra "O"rings so I bought the set. Haven't got it yet. I've had a local B/M owner ask about if I punch my own carto's and I said some I do and some I don't. I use a lot of different cartos' Got some that Baditude suggested and also some more from Electronicstix. So far I've only had one bad punch and that was cause there was a pretty girl on TV when I was counting the turns of the punch. But I also got to admit that I have a bench grinder with a fine grit wheel and a course buffing pad to polish it all out when I want to. It just depends on how bored you are at the time you do it. I get bored sometimes so I sit and vape and punch carto's, When I want away from it all I go and make my own punches from a 1/4 20 standard allen bolt. Harder than the hex head and really easy to reshape.

Thanks guys, appreciate the suggestions. I do prefer pre-drilled cartos but happen to have a stash of regulars that I want to use up.

FYI - I found this video. The video shows very little distortion after punching...

Carto Punch Cheap but Good Diversitech Quick Tap QT-1 - YouTube

Any punch is gonna distort the carto to an extent. Can't be helped. I've used mine in the Phiniac and also the IB Tanks I got. And I got more tanks coming soon. I need more cash for my habits. I believe in the saying. "Work is the curse of the vaping class".
