Hey vets I've been rebuilding with kanthal and learning it's ways for a while now, I have alot more room to play now that my Gamma V2 finally came in (which I mainly use as a dripper, not a genesis). I just have a few questions for those that have pretty much figured out their perfect coil configuration. To start I'm looking for a configuration that prioritizes flavor as the most important part (pretty burn proof, however I don't care about the warmth of the vape whatsoever), and then to squeeze in as much vapor as possible without cooking my fruity flavors (90% of my juices are fruity, and the last 10% are complex like "in vino veritas" from virgin vapors, which is a wine based flavor), in fact I'm nowhere near looking for "competition clouds", however I'd like to be proud of my fog
. I've found I particularly like micro-coils with smaller gauges; 28 gauge is my favorite so far (as long as I have a hole as big as my ex-gf's
, BIG like >2mm). However I've experimented with some ribbon kanthal as well and found it REALLY brought out my fruities, I've also had a REALLY good experience with a clapton coil vapor wise, however I couldn't balance the flavor with vapor impressiveness. Note for the most part I'm by far not a professional coil builder yet (I don't think, they look nice and tidy though, and I can always get them to glow from inside to out) but I do know the basic physics and safety. I've never built a sub-ohm coil, and it doesn't make sense to my unexperienced brain as I've had good experiences with around 1.8's. Nevertheless I'd love to hear from you guys that have really connected with the way of the coils, and see what experiences you ladies and gents have had.
In a nutshell, WHAT:
-kanthal gauge/style (ribbon, wire etc.)
-configuration (coil, microcoil, dual coil, clapton, twisted etc.)
-ohm/airflow
-wicking/wrapping
-wattage (if you feel necessary)
-any other non-basics tips
Thanks so much everybody, ECF has been magical since I've joined!
