You are limited to a advertized minimum resistance of 1.2Ω. Some SVDs will fire as low as 0.8Ω... but for now, lets say 1.2Ω is your practical limit. You can build a 1.2Ω rda with a single coil, using 28 gauge Kanthal, or a 1.2Ω dual parallel build using 30 gauge wire.

There are plenty of RDAs out there that will work with single or dual coils. Make sure the AFC (air flow control) will accommodate either.

Click on my first sig line hyperlink and read all contained within... it will make you less clueless. ;-)

I used my first dripping atomizer on a VV ego type battery. It was an Igo-W set up with a single coil. As stated above: just make sure you don't go too low on the coil resistance or you will damage the battery.

Besides that there are also a couple of things that you absolutey should possess if you are rebuilding:

1) A solid understanding of Ohm's Law

2) An ohm meter

Lots of RDAs out there, like State O Flux told you, your main concern is to keep your bulds above 1.2 ohms or your SVD wont fire. that being said, my advice is to get one with adjustable airflow (i consider this feature essencial), pick some models that catch your attention and do some research before you buy, to see if there are reported flaws on that particular model, etc.

Before I bought my first Mechanical (since my SVD button hit the crap for the second time ) I found the magma worked really well

Built my first set up using a single coil at 1.4 and it was wonderful.
The Magma supports Single or dual coil, is very easy to build on (only 2 posts) and is a real Flavor monger.
The AFC (Air Flow Control) ring has 3 options in Single coil mode as well.

Highly recommend it

+1 on the Magma.

It shines at higher ohm builds, has an immense drip well, and the best flavor I've experienced to date in a RDA.
The positive center post is not adjustable on the magma, though on many of the clones it looks like it is. Attempting to adjust it will bugger up the insulator block and cause leaking. So on some mods there can be connection issues.
If my lack of attention span can be overcome I'll try mine on my SVD tonight and report back.

Another to consider is the Yaeliq, capable of single or dual builds and the airflow comes from under the coil and is adjustable. I find this location of airflow really helps with the best flavor performance. Downside is there are no clones I don't think so it is full price for the original. You can offset the cost with his juice prices however if ordered at the same time.
