The ONLY way to get that warm feeling consistently is to get a manual switch PV where you push a small button to heat up the atomizer as long as you want. No power cut off like the auto switch PV's. The bigger battery PV's give you longer battery life and can give really warm vapor. I would check out this options:

The Big Five in Manual Switch PV’s:

Screwdriver: ecigscrewdriver.com
The Black SD Kit. $159.99. Plus 1 free 30ml Bottle of Wicked.
Prodigy: PureSmoker.com - Your #1 Source For PV's, Parts, & Accessories!
GG: THE GG
JantyStick: http://jantyusa.com/index.php
LV: Zi Moshi Home

Many members also like the Joye 510/Janty Dura-C manual. The batteries are smaller, however.

There is no best e-cig just like there is no best car or best movie. You have to find what is best for you. I happen to think vaping an average personal vaporizer is like smoking a light or ultra-light analog cigarette. I like the sensations you describe in your post. There are several factors involved in creating good throat hit and warm vapor: nicotine content, voltage of your power supply and use of a manual button to fire off the atomizer as long as you want. There are other factors, but I think those are the main three.

I find the best device for me is my DIY Magnum vaporizer running at 6 volts of power with a manual switch and penstyle (801) atomizers. But that is me. Of course, you might define throat hit differently than me. There are commercially availalbe manual devices that provide the power - Zi Moshi, GG and Prodigy. These all operate at or above 5 volts. Some people get good throat hit from a manual e-cig that runs at the typical 3.7-4.2 volts like the 510, Screwdriver and others.

High nicotine e-liquids definitely enhance throat hit. 36mg is being phased out leaving 26 mg/ml commercially produced juices from now one. While I might like 26mg, it might choke you.

This is a quote posted by a forum member earlier this week about the Puresmoker Podigythat I think is really great. You could easily replace Prodigy with GG or Zi Moshi and it would fit her statement. She tells it like it is...

Initially, I wanted something that had the look/feel of a "real" cigarette. Now, I simply want something that I'm not constantly charging/changing batteries/struggling with it to get good flavor/vapor. This is it!"

Its new (kinda) but you gotta check out the VX2 I got from litecigusa.com I think it can play with the big boys mentioned.

I am new to this but have other PVs too and the VX2 is my power hitter.....1 batt, 1 cart all day and TONS of vapor. My 402 and 510 always need a new batt/cart throughout the day.

Sounds like something's up with your 510, as cart capacity between the 510 and VX2/J118 is nearly identical (fresh/unfilled 510 cart = .5ml, VX2/J118 = .55ml). VX2/J118 has better battery life, but lower throat hit, try using the vx2 and 510 with new attys and same juice.

The above mentioned higher voltage units are great, and each have their own following. If you want a more 'cigarette looking' device, with warm vapor, also still manual switch, try the 510, last post notwithstanding...I don't know many that prefer the J118 over the 510 that have both, if throat hit is important to them. The J118/VXs is a nice newbie e-cig, but I don't think it'll give you the level of warm, dense vapor and throat hit the 510, let alone the higher voltage devices mentioned, can provide.

I have a bunch of e-cigs and the one that gives me the warmest vapor is the 401 I got from puresmoker. I got 4 atomizers when they first started selling the "hybrid" and all 4 run really hot. I have to be careful to make sure the carts don't run dry or it'll melt the poly and leave a burnt taste that takes a while to clear.
