Best gauge wire to get?

I'm currently using 28 gauge wire but its sometimes tough to wrap. Any suggestions or preferences?

Im new to building coils but I find 30 ga really easy to work with, I generally hit my target ohms most of the time which is around 1.5

I keep going back to my 30 gauge. Not too thick, not too thin............Juuuuuust right.

I've used 30, 28, and 26 gauge Kanthal. I'd have to say that 28 is my favorite as it is the most versatile. I sometimes break the 30 gauge just by annealing the coil or inserting it into the atty posts. Although its the easiest to wrap, 28 gauge sometimes seems to take too long to heat up.

I personally prefer 24g or 26g when building RDA coils I generally use 28g or 30g for anything else

I have 26, 28, 30 and 32 gauge. A 10 wrap 26 gauge microcoil is a beast. You won't break a leg changing the wick either. I use 26 and 28 gauge the most. Needless to say, I like my coils in the sub ohm range. I got the higher gauge wire to rebuild my protanks but I don't use them much anymore. As Baditude mentioned the higher gauge stuff is very prone to breakage.

28 ga should be fine, if you want something a bit "softer" try 30 ga. I primarily use 28 on my Tobh...

I used to use 32 in my protank builds but after a few rewickings I found the 32 to weaken and loose its umph, easily bend and distort. I now use 30 and can build nice1.2 to 1.4 ohm coils, IMO that's a vaping sweetspot. It holds its shape better in the long run of repeated rewickings and I can build lower ohm coils without having oodles of wraps. I find 28 a bit thick for protanks and more susceptible to shorts. My coils are regular spaced coils for my daily vape needs, I'm not that fond of microcoils in a protank but a dripper is different...microcoil all the way. The wire is so cheap you can buy one of each and find your own fav gauge.

Google up Temco and you can get spools of 100 feet of 28, 30 and 32 for a grand total of about $20 for all three including shipping.

Then you can enjoy the experimentation! ...IMO, most of us DIYers get a whole heap of satisfaction from the journey to the perfect vape

I find 26 to be my favorite, its durable and easy to work with. It also doesn't take forever to heat up. I would say, do as sgt rock suggests and get/try them all!

For my RBA's I use 28ga or twisted 32ga. PT2's and Kayfun, I use 30ga.

30g is probably the easiest to learn with. After you know what you want, then you may find a higher or lower gauge more desirable for your individual needs.

I've used 26, 28,30, 32. I find 28 easiest to work with. Anneal first with a small torch. It'll wrap easier.

Personally, all I have at the moment is 28g... but for my dripper I twist two strands together before I wrap my coils.... without twisting it, I found it very easy to wrap, but I've got a couple of homemade jigs for wrapping (drill bit "blanks" like a drill bit without the fluting and sharp edges... basically just small rods of a known size)... it's much easier when you find the right equipment that works for you, the wire itself is less of a problem than you might think...
