If one of you end up doing this and releasing it into the wild, I have one suggestion/request:

Make a standard way of listing the brand of flavor by people who submit recipes. The one site that I've seen that kind of does this doesn't have a standard and it makes, say, TFA vs TPA or Cap vs Capella show up differently. If there were a uniform standard used, it would be so much easier. If you say you have TFA caramel, you miss out on all the recipes that contain TPA caramel, even though they're the same thing.

One of my biggest pet peeves on recipes in general is when it's posted by flavor name only with no brand. Even new at this I'm already noticing flavor brands for the same particular flavor are not necessarily interchangeable.

When you submit a recipe you use the ingredients that that site has. If the site doesnt have it you will be able to add it. they will still be able to put in their own manufacturer if its not on the list. I am not sure how to go about doing the TFA / TPA i will have to look into this. if you have any other ideas please let me know

The admin panel for the site is done and we are now working on the user registration and the front end of the website. we are looking at a week deadline. if anyone wants to help with the cost please dont hesitate to ask :)

right now it has 1119 ingredients...... from the following manufacturers

Bickford, Capella, Faeries Finest, FlavourArt, LorAnn, Seedmans, TPA, Tasty Puff, Flavor West, vaping Zone, VZ Gourmet each flavor is listed as okay to use, do not use, oil based, Artificial Coloring, trace amounts of diacetyl , ....... and when you get open a recipe if every ingredient isnt labeled okay to use it will display a warning letting you know

Update: today the user registration and login has been completed. now we are working on adding ingredients to your "Cabinet" once this is done it will just be manually entering all of the ingredients and working on the look of the site. still on a good time line to get this released. if you have any other suggestions please let me know once again if you want to donate to the cause i wont hesitate to give you my paypal id :)

THATS what I was looking for. Thanks. And I am glad to hear of all they great support.

this has been used to make the list of manufacturers and flavors on my website. but users can also submit other manufacturers and flavors so when new companies come out or new flavors they can easily be added to the system

For manufacturer name, it would be nice to cross reference name variations into one standard name. The Flavor Apprentice, Flavor Apprentice, TFA, TPA, etc. Are variations of the same name and should be unified into one name.

Also, It seems to me that some brands are rebottled flavors from another company. It'd be cool if the db would know that "Joe Bob's Flavoring Co." is repackaged Capella's. That might be a tall order, but it'd be cool.

yes you will be able to save your flavors for future use when you login plus you will have a favorites section where you can save recipes for later. sorry for the late update been busy with the family all weekend. right now the system is almost completed for its intial release hopefully can add more features later once its going. i will start entering known recipes today just to put something on it.

as far as the cross referencing. I see that being a later feature. right now i have TFA and TPA listed as TFA/TPA all ingredients, recipes, and comments will have a report feature so you will be able to report them so if someone makes a new ingredient and doesnt use TFA/TPA but they enter flavor apprentice. you can report it with a reason and it will bring it to my attention so i can change it.

you will be able to browse by catagory for recipes, or search by flavors that you have

make sure you add a donate button and let people know the cost of things you have put in this.. you should also see if you might be able to gain a sponcers from the sites who juice you use like wizard or tfa with a link back to your site with your calc on it.. just my idea..

That is something I will be doing. I am using my free time so I do not have any money invested in it, just my free time where i could have been doing other stuff. thats why i said $150.00 so If any one on this forums sells flavors and wants these flavors linked back to your website just let me know.

So we all have the issue where we see a recipe that looks amazing, but there is always 1 or 2 that you do not have. So it got me thinking....of course you are going to order that flavor when you make your next order, and that's if you write it down or remember it by the time you have looked at 50 more recipes with flavors you need.

Well what if there was a site where you could go and check the boxes on all of the flavors you have and then press enter. Then it pulls up all (and only) the recipes that you can make right now.

Well, it was my idea, and hopefully someone can pull this together in the programing department and who designs software. I personally am a CAD Designer, but I do have 2 friends in particular that I will be running the idea off of and see if maybe it is something that we can put together. One is a software engineer and the other is a web designer, but they do not vape, so it wouldn't be instant passion as if it were one of us.......if you know what I mean. But I will be talking with them. So if you want to help, just add comments and links to all of the vendors and flavors. And any info you feal would be useful in creating this idea. I know I have seen excel sheets with just about every flavor there is, but I have to go looking for it in my 1500+ Favorites List. It would be nice to have all the info we needed to build the website in one place as a useful resource.

So that's my rant for the day. I look forward to the feedback.

Not to burst any bubbles or anything, but this site has that ability to put in your list of flavorings inventory and get a list of e-liquid recipes based on the users existing inventory.

Its pretty good, except the pg/vg/nic ratio slider thing in the "adapt this recipe" function often has faulty math. However, the recipes are displayed as percentages so you can always use them in your own calculator.

Keep working on your idea though Dicero it should be even better than diyrecipebook once you have it populated

you did burst my bubble :) i did not know there was one out there. right now it does not have the functions to mix a recipe. since their is a lot of calculators out there that already do this. so i left the PG/VG/NIC off my site
