Ok, so matter what atomizer I've tried, I still can't get much flavor. To date, I've tried cartomizers (YUCK), clearomizers (meh), orion 1.1 (stainless and silica wicks), AGA-T2, IGO-L, 510 atomizers, UFS 2, and Odysseus 1.

Out of all of those, only the UFS and Odysseus produced any amount of flavor. EVERYTHING else I've tried produces a tiny bit of sweetness, and nothing else.

I'm working with an IGO-L right now, don't have anything else.

What, from your personal experience, has been the absolute BEST way to set up an IGO-L for producing the most amount of flavor? Type of wick and wire used? How many wraps? How much wick used? Drilled out hole? Anything else?

Any pictures of set ups as well would be greatly appreciated.

Also wondering, do you exhale through your nose and mouth to get flavor, or is exhaling through you mouth enough to taste the vapor?

Are you on a mech or vv?

xc116 or cotton are the two that would probably get the most votes as flavor carriers. I agree that these two are probably the best in terms of flavor but I know a few that would say SS mesh or ekowool setup correctly is their nirvana.

I use xc116 wrapped 6/5 on 30 awg for 1.7 ohms vaped at 4v. I wrap the coil directly on the xc116, mount, and make an "S" in the reservoir with the xc116 tails.

Cotton can be done similarly but you make the coil on a drill bit (like a 1/16 or slightly larger) and then thread some QTip cotton through it.

There are more detailed methods here on the first page of this subforum.

If you are on a mech, then just lower the number of wraps to maybe 3/2 for a 0.7 ohm setup.

Drill out air hole to 1/16th to begin. You might want to go slightly larger later but best to start with that.

This produces very deep flavor and thick clouds for me. I have been in your shoes and know that muted, tasteless disappointment. Honestly, for the first few months back a couple of years ago, that is all I thought vaping was about. IGO-L is one of the top three potential flavor and vapor atomizers on the market, and they are fairly easy to work with. Pick one of the above, get a good juice, and be prepared for intensity.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm using a mech, 18350. Between xc116 and cotton, I think I'd prefer to try the xc116. Can you explain, or post a pic, of the 'S' you mentioned? I'm having trouble picturing it. Is 32 awg wire ok, or does it need to be 30? Just want to be sure of everything I'll need to buy for this set up.

For drilling the hole, is a dremel tool stong enough, or do I need a drill press for that?

This is not my picture, but it was my model that I built from.

If you are on a mech and want to go sub ohm, I would highly recommend getting some 28 or 30 awg. Not sure if 32 will work as you would have to use 1 or 2 wraps and I haven't heard of many people rocking that setup.

Lastly, I'm not sure about the dremel. I use a cordless 18v drill with quality titanium bits. If you don't have a drill handy, it might be time to get one as it is a staple around the house - at least for me.

Others might be able to give more insight on the max torque of a dremel and it if will hold up. Not sure.

You can get everything else done though, and still get a decent vape with the stock hole. Just work to that final component as you get the tools.

This is my IGO setup...

null-16.jpg

XC-116 with dual 3/2 wrap of 30 AWG Kanthal. 0.4 ohms on a GUS Telescopic in 18500 mode. IMO, 18350 is too small for a mech.

I wrap the inner wicks (shorter ones) directly under the coils then loop the outer wicks around the outside. Both ends should touch.

null-18.jpg

Ohm check with my cheapo multimeter, test fire, juice & enjoy.

I also used my dremel to drill out the airhole to 2mm, then continued to drill out the opposite side of the top cap to have dual 2mm holes opposite of each other. It took some work but this atty only cost me 20 bucks!
