Thx candik., i realised after posting this i i was being "thay guy" b/c my question is likely asked on a daily basis here. Just hoping for some advice from someone in a similar situation. Price is not so important to me, same as batterylife as im in a truck a lot of my day, just looking for as close to analogues as i can get from a canadian dealer. Anyone try redds??
Thx again guys/gals.

Welcome to ECF. Redds is where I started, it enabled me to be analog free, I am in the process of trying to find a clearo that I like as they do produce more vapour and flavour, but I still take my Redds PCC and cartos with me when I go to a jobsite. They are an 808 style battery, so there is not as much selection for juice delivery devices as the 510 batteries. I have no regrets going the way I did though. I ordered blank cartos and filled them myself, so I don't know how the prefilled ones are, but you can't get them with nic anyway.

Jeesh, I think everyone wants something that is like analogs. There are plenty of great tobacco vape juices out there. Unfortunately, they taste more tobacco-ey than smoky. I've been really enjoying goodejuice.com juices, particularly the GJ4.

www.CANVAPE.com Welcome to Canada's ultimate one stop shop on-line created for Canadian's to service your electronic cigarette needs. You'll find the highest quality products online for sale as well as the best pricing, service and sales. Quick proce is the only canadian site I know off-hand. Look if you want something that looks like a cigarette, get a 510 MANUAL. If you want something that actually vapes well, get some sort of eGo. It's a trade off. The 510 models are small and give some vape. The eGo's are the size of a small cigar and vape very well.

Just wondering if anyone has any advice. Interested in a cig sized unit available from a canadian dealer. Was thinking a 510 but was told by someone they are a pain and leak juice etc. Thx for any info/opinions you can share :)

I'm sure there's plenty of advise to be had, so ill just say its a great decision you made to give up the smokes and you're sure to have lots of fun on your vaping adventures

The best advice I feel is to consider how heavy of a smoker you are and invest accordingly because you WILL fall off the wagon unless you give yourself room to learn and grow, its a whole new habit so there is a learning curve, you will go heavy the first week or two to compensate for quitting, at the same time your learning so waste can be a factor. if I was starting out again I would probably have gone with a Ego-c kit looking back with hindsight, I used 808 batteries for a year and a half and just moved on to using mods and what a relief. and Ego-c might be a neat place to start (for me.) 510 is nice because they are compatible with most gear. and as far as being leaky that seams like a variant, all of this tech uses liquid, which can leak. and order big because as I said, better to have it and not fall off the wagon if that's your motivation.

You are not THAT guy!!! It doesn't matter how many times someone asks, it's a valid question and deserves valid answers! So please don't feel like you shouldn't ask.

Ok, since I'm not in Canada (though I've been and it's a lovely country!) I don't know what the shipping is like from overseas locations so you probably either want to find out from a fellow Canadian or order/buy from someplace a bit more local. Keep in mind that the closer your product is to a cigarette, usually the less satisfactory it's gonna be. Cig-a-likes (as they're so fondly referred to) have smaller batteries and can (not necessarily always!) be more limited on what juice delivery devices you can use. For battery life you can expect to get approx 1 hour of vape time for every 100 mAh of battery power. (650mAh = 6.5 hours approx vape time) If you're in a truck most of the day, you could probably benefit from something that has "pass through" ability. That's one you can vape on while it's charging with a USB. Not sure if your truck has the USB ports but I've seen power port plug ins with USB slots. When you order your juice delivery attachments, make sure you get at least one that's pyrex or polypropylene since there are some juices out there that damage the standard polycarbonate tanks. That way you can vape any flavor you want without having to worry...

Hopefully that helps at least a little! Happy shopping and congratulations on making the change!

Besides the normal battery, since you are in a vehicle most of the day, you might look for some form of passthru. Just plugs into the cigarette lighter, or usb outlet. Would not have to worry about battery life. When I'm on a long drive I use an ego sized battery that doubles as a passthru...works like a charm.

As for leaking, that's more about the delivery device (clearo, tank, etc) not really about 510 vs 808 style batteries. You will have more options for your delivery devices if you choose a 510 style battery. I own both, and I like my 808 cig-style batts, but I wish I had started with 510s.

Wow, thx for all the info and welcomes :)
I had stumbled upon canvapes in the past and heard only good things about the guy. My truck has both usb and a built in a/c plug to make use of so thats a plus, but i heard some of the pv's batteries take like 2.5 hrs to charge which is not so handy as i would never be in the truck for that long. Saw some nice colibri ecig kits that came with a pvc to charge it during the day. Since everyone here seems so helpfull i'll as a couple more ;)
How does a new style blu disposable compare vapour wise to say a 510??, ive only tried disposables thus far and they are all i can compare with. Being a half a pack a day "light" anologue smoker i am quite satisfied with the amount of vape from my disposable but i imagine even an entry level pv may produce more???
And lastly ive been wondering what the advantage to having a manual battery would be??, seems like a step backwards from auto, but i am likely missing something.
Thx again everyone, learned more on this site in one night than i have the last month of "googling" which interestingly enough usually lead me here. Glad i registered.

The passthru charges the battery while you vape...so depending on factors of how often you vape...the output of the plug...you usually end up with more charge on the battery...or a fully charged batt stays fully charged.

There are also passthrus that are just a cord, so to speak, that don't have a battery attached.

Auto vs manual is a personal preference. I was a 40 year smoker and was sure that I would prefer an auto...I was wrong. On my first kit order I got 1 of each and I found the manual was more like smoking.

I haven't tried the new blu disposables but the one I did try didn't last nearly as long as the packaging or claims said it would. Given their cost and their lack of performance (in my experience anyway), I would pass on those. They might be good in an emergency or a pinch but not something I would choose for my day to day.

Just to give you an idea, this is the one I use: $51.42 Vamo-Vivi Voltage Adjustable E-Cigarette Battery Compartment Set - with Nitecore I2 US battery charger/charger cable/2*Panasonic 18650 batteries at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping This particular kit comes with components I bought separately. I also choose ce4 clearomizers, vivi nova and dct tanks. I DIY (mix my own juice) at a 50/50 12mg mix.

This isn't the choice for everyone but it was the choice for me. Like you, I was a 1/2 pad full flavor smoker. I wasn't sure what I wanted as far as performance and where my sweet spot would be so I went with one that was adjustable. The Vamo is VV/VW so it is very adjustable. It also happens to be a popular mod as well because price -vs- performance, it's hard to beat. It kinda looks like a small flashlight but I don't care about size or appearance. Only about whether or not it would do what I needed it to. There are a several options out there that can offer similar experiences such as the ego spinner or twist. (Those are variable volt devices that don't look like a flashlight). Depending on the size of the battery you can get some good vape time out of them. I can get about 10 days of vaping from one charge on a 18650 battery. (But then I also vape lightly going through less than 4 ml juice in 2 weeks as well.)

Take your time, check out your options and then take the plunge and buy. I know if you do, you'll get the product you need.

I was a heavy smoker. I got the joyetech egoc passthrough 650 mah and the kanger evod. If you can find it and your wallet can stand it I would go with at least a 900 to 1000 mah batt. The 650 mah batt will last about 6 hrs 900 mah about 9 hrs and the 1000 about 10.
I will be getting when funds and availability permit at least two 900 mah batts min. If I can two 1000's if u were a heavy smoker that's what I would reccomend. Oh also load up on cartomizerz at least a pack, they are rated to last about two weeks.
My suggestion I currently have 4 650 mah batts. I will never be if I can help be without sufficient batt

Two things you want to be aware of. Firstly the voltage of the PV. Many fires at 3.7 volts and others at 3.3 volts. Next is the mah of the battery. 100 mah= 1 hr normal vaping before recharge...realize as the battery discharges the vape will become weaker. With the cig sized PVs the number one complaint is battery life.

And lastly ive been wondering what the advantage to having a manual battery would be??, seems like a step backwards from auto, but i am likely missing something.
If you're having a stressful moment you can always fire the PV for longer OR actually push the button down for a couple of secs before inhaling for a stronger hit. Also manual batteries are sealed and have less chance of damage from juice. Auto batteries are unsealed.
If size is a concern you may want to consider a Mini eGo- 400 mah and fires at 3.7 volts. I own one and friends are astounded at the vape.

Best of Luck.
