That really depends on personal preference. There are a lot of styles out there, from basic tubes to box mods to things like The Hammer. Bottom buttons, side buttons, etc.
As far as function, all of the high end mechanical mods are excellent. The Nemesis, a genuine Chi You, or a King mod are all great choices. I personally love the Vanilla mod I got last week.
If you're looking for a tube mod, you can spend $150 - $300 depending on exactly what you decide on, but I'd start with the 4 I named above.
If you're looking for a box mod, you can't go wrong with a Reo.

I can't speak to the quality of anything Mark Bugs, but if you wanna spend a serious bit of coin, check out Wizards Apprentice or any of the Mark Bugs line. They are mechanicals with touch sensors, and are kind of nifty if money is no object.
If you're looking for something smaller, a GP Piccolo or a BaGua (with magnets) , or any 14500 Super T device will definitely do the trick. They're all great.

The local shops around here (Filipino dominant) seem to like the Chi You. Turtle Ship seem rare to get even a clone. Sentinel is what I have and one of the popular ones. No shortage of Philipine/Korean mods here.
Richman hybrid, super t simplicity are my top picks for eye catchiness. Never used either, I sometimes use a sigelei #20, sanded contacts mech with a richman rba on top and its fantastic.

Just get a Reo & you wiil be happy. The Grand will carry 6 mls of juice & a good AW IMR 18650 will last all day. Almost forgot get the RM2m atty to go along with it & your set.
Been using Reos for almost 3 years & they are the Timex of mods. The take a licking & keep on ticking.
