and another question when using a mechanical mod u need to use imr batteries right

Very good question and maybe the most important when it comes to safety. Yes, please use IMR bats. There are a few hybrid batteries out there that are considered to be similar to IMR, but for your first mod, I'd just stay with IMR. Batteries are the last place to "go cheap", IMO.

Ummm...here goes a very embarrassing question: What is a mod? What ARE those things you have photographs of? Are they batteries? Sorry, but I can't figure them out D:

Mods are basically just battery holders made for vaping now that aren't cig-a-likes or ego style. Mod used to refer to things like flashlights and Altoids tin boxes being modified to be use as vaporizers.

Edit-Theta beat me to it.

"Mods" are the metal/plastic tubes or boxes that hold the batteries. They aren't rebuildable batteries. They have a button and a threaded connector to put different juice delivery devices onto the mod.

If you look at the pictures in the links earlier in the thread you will see that the tubes are empty inside. That's where the battery goes. When you push the button the current goes into the coil in the delivery device of choice and heats up, thus vaporizing the e-liquid.

Edit- please don't feel bad for asking questions here. Believe me, when I first found this forum it was like reading a different language for the first time. Just keep asking, and keep reading and you'll be a pro in no time. :toast:

Size matters, but smaller mods seem to be harder to come by. The greater the MAHs generally the larger the battery and the larger the mod. I like a 14500 battery sized mod for work, but I carry a spare battery. I like GUS mods for size, the G16 (16mm dia.) is not much bigger than a 14500 battery. I also have a G22 (22mm dia.) that uses an 18350 battery. Both mods fit comfortably in the hand but use batteries from 700 to 800 MAH.

Size does matter for runtime, an 600mah14500 battery wont run a quarter the time an 1600lmah 18650 will run.
It's also VERY critical when doing sub ohm set ups! You need to KNOW the discharge rate on the batteries you use, you need to KNOW Ohm's law and how much drain you are putting on this battery and if what you are trying to make it do! Otherwise "BOOM" can happen! Sorry, I'm not a fan of this new craze, I have nothing but trouble with RBA's as it is, much less trying to keep a sub ohm coil stable enough to work right! There are many things to factor in when doing this, so PLEASE try and do it as safely as possible!

The Super T Precise ELA. Super high quality built right here in the USA. Can take any 18 battery from 18350 to 18650. The only problem is, they are sold out and when they return they will have less features and cost more. If you can find one on the classifieds, snatch it up quick.
