Best Method to Refill Cartomizers?

I have had my EGO for 2 days. I prefer using a cartomizer instead of a cartridge because it seems to last far longer.

My question is what is the best method to refill them?

Here is what I do currently:

1. Pour juice in one of the caps from the carto (condom). I fill it slightly less than half to avoid overfilling it.

2. Slide the cartomizer in with the thread end first (not sure if this matters or not). This forces the liquid into the cartomizer for newbies reading this.

Seems simple, easy and seems to work just fine.


Is that a better method or is there some need to do this?

Is there anything else I need to do beyond what I am currently doing to make it better somehow?

I have seen posts about some spin method, taking them apart, etc. etc. It seems like i am missing something - as I do not see why i would want to take it apart if i do not need to?

I even use this "condom method" to put some juice in the cartomizers on my initial ecig purchase - The Safe Cig - and seems to work just fine with that also.

That works fine with threads down, or if you can get the cap off you fill the filling (floss) by dripping it in or getting a syringe and small needle in injecting down in the filler and fill from bottom to top until the filler is wet, but not a puddle of liquid on top, or you have to much. This is my preferred method. The condom method gets juice in the center opening where the wick travels and you will get juice in your mouth unless you blow through the cart before using onto a towel...

Ok, I just watched another video on this from V4L. As far as i can tell the method I use would only be an issue (or at least it seems to me) with an auto battery system as the concern is the juice may get on the battery and shorten its life.

He also mentions that he lets them sit for 12 hours after filling them as he says you definitely don't want to vape them wet. Really? I have never waited even a minute.... lol. I fill them and vape away. Not good? Is it better to wait for taste or smoke or something?

Thanks Paul. Your preferred method, what do you mean the top and bottom? I presume you take the needle and put it in the threaded end hole? I tried that once. My issue with that was that I was never sure how much to squirt in or if I put too much in.

The vaping experience is better for me if I let the newly-filled cartos sit overnight. It's just better if the liquid "ages" and has more time to completely mix into the filler.

I like pouring, dripping, or syringing the liquid into the mouth end of cartos. I also will use the condom method sometimes, putting the mouth end into the condom.

Just remove the end cap, add liquid to the filler, holding the carto at a 45-degree angle, until you can see a drop at the threaded end, wipe the drop off, put the end cap back on, put the condoms back on, and store threaded end down overnight.

Most empty cartos will take about 1/2 of a tall condomful -- or about 3/4 mL. If you use a syringe a few times, you'll then be able to tell how much to put in the syringe to fill empty cartos.

In Paul's mind, top is the threaded end and bottom is the mouth end. He was explaining how to add the liquid directly into the filler (which is my preferred method) that's inside the carto, which you can see if you take off the white end cap (at the mouth end).

I use the drip and spin method. I tried the carto method and it's too messy and wastes too much juice. Tried the injection method and it just to involved. Now I just pop the cap, drip in about 25 drops, spin, drip some more, put cap back on and vape.

Pouring the juice into a condom and then pouring the liquid from the condom into the filler is even quicker. (Don't have to spend time counting drops.) Stop pouring when the filler is saturated, put cap back on, shake if you want to (but it isn't necessary), and let sit overnight. This is how I fill cartos most often.

If the carto has been used a lot I drip and spin as well.

If I'm at home though I just leave the soft cap off and keep an eye on the filler. Once the juice pulls away from the edge and it can hold 4-6 more drops I top it off, keeping it nice and wet.

I've been using injector needles like these and they work awesome... especially for the EGO style cartomizers. They are pretty cheap and IMO should be in everyone's kit.

I usually use the needles too, easy and no mess or waste. The plastic tip needles that I got with some Royal Smokers carto's were garbage though I kept breaking those, use a real needle with blunt tip if your going to go with this method.
