My opinion, take it for what its worth, is that the nano coil is not a good route to go for the protank coils (awesome for rba dragon coil builds though!).
The reasoning is that you HAVE to use flavor wicks when you do, the internal diameter of the nano coil is so small that a single wick will leave gaps between the top seal and cup, leading to leaking, gurgling, etc.
My experience with flavor wicks is that they mute the flavor, and reduce vapor production significantly, so I now aim for builds that wont need them. Like many here on the ecf, I started out using riptrippers method, over time I tinkered with different builds and realized quickly that building to not use flavor wicks makes a HUGE difference to the whole experience.
IIRC riptrippers uses a 20 gauge needle to wrap his coils. Instead of doing this, use a small screwdriver or something similar to wrap on, making a comparatively much bigger coil. I wrap on a 1.5ish mm screwdriver. 10 wraps with 28 gauge hits about 1.6 ohms. this leaves you enough space to place a full cotton wick, which fills the holes enough to not require any flavor wicks.
Back to the OP.
My experiences with silica in protanks have not been wonderful. That said, I'm gonna give this a shot, maybe it will revive my faith!
