Hello ECF! Been browsing this forum for months style and might get flamed for asking this question but I wanted an answer based specifically for my taste as I'm on a tight budget and can't really afford to aimlessly try too many different things before I find something I like. I'm on the search for affordable plumes of vapor. So what I have now is the iTaste V3 with a 1.8ohm dual coil bottom feed X-Jet on top, I usually keep it at 9w to get the best amount of vapor while not getting a burnt taste. I've made a few upgrades to get where I'm at and I've even got some VG to add to my juices for even more vapor. While the V3 is great to keep in my pocket, I need something to make big clouds while I'm sitting at the desk. Unless someone knows of a better tank I can throw on my V3, I think my next option is mechanical mods. I've looked into RDAs but I think I'm more in to the RBAs with a tank so I'm not constantly refilling it because I vape all day long while I'm working. So now here's where I get even more picky lol, I need a tank, and I need one that isn't gonna leak if I were to lay it on my desk. One that is gonna give me great clouds but not get dry hits. I've seen the "Genesis" style tanks and don't like that the are top feed or whatever I've seen people having to turn them upside down while hitting to get better vapor, so I think bottom feed, if there is one for me. I'm not sure if I need to go sub ohm or not but I'm assuming I'll need a mod to power this thing. I don't necessarily want to be holding a flashlight to my face so I prefer a smaller one. If anybody could make some recommendations on where to start or good combinations they've found that would be greatly appreciated!

I have been through a bunch of stuff, it's nice not having a budget, and my current feeling is that regulated mods are better than mechanicals. For me it is about not worrying and having the mod stop me from doing stupid things. Also, if I am a little off building the coil I can turn the voltage up or down a little and things are fine. 30 and 35 watt mods are coming out all the time and they go down under .5 ohms.

For a tank I like the kayfun 3.1. I like the adjustable air flow it is a decent size tank. I have a genesis and do not like it for the amount of vapor it produces. Kayfuns are a little finicky with how they are setup to stop dry hits but it can be done.

There is a new tank, the expromiser, that is like the kayfun with the additional feature of being able to get at the coil without having to empty the tank. Also, I think, you can get an extender, that makes it huge, that holds over 5ml.

For real clouds, and flavor, I set in front of the TV with a dripper. It's nice but a pain to take out and about.

Thanks for the reply. So you say the kayfun produces more vapor than your Genesis? And I've yet to personally build a coil, seen it done but never done it myself. So i should maybe stick to one that is a little easier to use. A dropper is too unpractical to be an option, do you think I'll be pleased enough with an RBAs vapor production to be satisfied with a purchase? Can anyone recommend an affordable mod and batteries to start? Any further info is appreciated.

I love my HCigar Kayfun 3.1's , no leaks , no gurgling and no dryhits and I vape 100%VG , a simple microcoil with a cotton wick give intense flavor , I favor the SVD , tough stainless steel mod VV/VW with a five amp limit it gives me some subohm capability , it'll fire down to .7ohms with stacked 18350's or .8 with an 18650 in it . It gives a good vape with an RDA at those resistances but it really shines with a 3.1 at 1.5-1.7ohms , helluva combination .

I have kayfuns on my mech mods, but i just got the kayfun mini clone (ivogo, from angelcigs) for $30 and have been using it on my egos and am thrilled with it-just as good a vape as my authentic kfl+. As long as you wrap the coil to 1.5 ohm or higher it should be fine-your vv3 should should do fine with it, and i assume it has an ohm checker? i use my mvp to check my coils.

The Kayfuns are ideal because they are super easy to rebuild, quick learning curve, and won't leak.

I would suggest you get the mini for your current mod, then if you want to wrap lower ohm coils (I never feel the need to do so) grab a nemesis clone

I'm going to steer the other way in this discussion. If what you're looking for is clouds, while the Kayfun will give you decent clouds, if built correctly, it doesn't compare to the clouds that a well built genesis style atomizer will give you.

What I'd recommend for someone who is into clouds, but wants a tank system is to get a Smoktech RSST (~$32) and a Nemesis clone (~$50). You'll want to wick it with stainless steel mesh, either #400 or #500, and wrap it with 28 or 26 gauge kanthal. Wrap it to about 0.8 - 1.0 ohms and make sure to run 18650 Sony VTC3,4, or 5 batteries. For clouds, drill the airhole of the RSST to at least 5/64. There are pros and cons to this set up.

    Pros:
    - will produce more vapor than a Kayfun system. Kayfuns, IMO, are more geared towards a higher than 1.0 ohm build that produces great flavor.
    - the flavor of your vape with a genesis will be a very crisp, clean vape. I don't necessarily think it's better than a Kayfun, but it's different and appeals to me more with fruit flavored juices.
    - if used with the fill hole plugged and a wick that takes up the wick hole space, it really doesn't leak. You still can't leave it on its side or upside down for extended periods of time, but pocket time is fine.
    - filling the genny is much easier than a Kayfun. You don't need tools, just a paper towel to wipe down the cap and o-ring, then pop the cap, plug, and fill.
    - if you go with the Nemesis style mod, there are a slew of aftermarket upgrades, like magnetic switches and upgraded contacts, to make the thing hit really hard.

    Cons:
    - SS mesh builds have a longer learning curve than coiling and wicking a Kayfun. You may have to torch the mesh and wire a bit more, work out the shorts. This can take a bit of time to work out.
    - as the juice gets low, you do have to tilt the unit towards the direction of the wick to keep it juiced. But this is only needed with you have less than 1/8 of a tank left.
    - if you do pocket it and it turns upside down or it you leave it horizontal on your desk and leave it there, you may get so,e leakage out of the airhole.

I'm not knocking the Kayfun. In fact, I use and love my KFL+ on a regular basis. But if you're after clouds, I'd recommend a RSST over the Kayfun.

higher wattage will give you more vapor. sub-ohming is a way to achieve higher wattage on the same 4V battery-which mechanicals (with a quality battery) can handle that regulated batteries with electrical components cannot. (make sure you look into ohms law for safety reasons, including the batteries you use-alot of info here that explains it better than I can!)

As far as your parameters of a smallish, easy to use tank atty, I think the kf mini is your best bet. If you want more clouds after that, then I would suggest looking into the DNA30 clones just coming out, which can put out 30 watts. I don't have any of them yet, but plan on getting one in a few months when they inevitably flood the market and drop in price.

Thanks for the info BlackBoar. I had seen the SS mesh builds and figured I should stay away from those at the moment since I'm just now getting in to rebuildables.. Is there a tank similar to the RSST that might be more user friendly for the beginner while still delivering those satisfying plumes of vapor?

I'll take a look at the Aqua styles. Since I'm a beginner should I look at a vv/vw mod vs the mechanical? My reasoning would be so the device keeps me from firing a coil that shouldn't be fired and gives me the option to turn it up or down since I don't know where my personal sweet spot is

I think that would be a great idea. I run a Kayfun at 2 ohms on a regulated VV mod (the Provari in my avatar). I also sit next to 4 other vapers at work, and my rig throws out more vapor and has better flavor than anything they use (and a couple of them have 2 or 3 different setups). If you build a Kayfun coil well and run it on a good VV/VW mod, you can get just about any result you want. It's all in how you build it and the settings you run.

And could anyone recommend an affordable mod if were to go with a vv/vw unit. I looked at the zmax, is there another one that will fire lower ohm coils and go above 15w or will I even need that? Also is there a good priced kit that includes batteries, charger, and mod? I like the style of the Aqua tanks a lot I'm leaning towards those

I have a similer question but a lil diffrent. I'm looking for a MM setup with a dripper that can push cloud's on a single coil of course. I's this possible? I order'd 1.8 ohm coil's from FastTech for my RBA. Is there anything else i could do to make this work or am i stuck having to us something with VV/VW options?

Could i go lower than 1.8ohm's without burning my juice? I usualy use 80vg/20pg. I see a mesh wick may help??
