Hello all,

I've been making the transition from analog to e-cigarettes for about a year now. I started with a typical Ego/CE4 combo and eventually upgraded to a ProVari Mini with a Nautilus tank vaping max VG juices, which kept me satisfied for a while. Then I tried a mech mod at a local vape shop and couldn't look back; this was the closest thing to a cigarette replacement that I've encountered. So I got a V3 Tronix Flip clone powered by Efest's supposed 35A 18650 batteries, with a Patriot RDA clone and modified cap that has three big air holes. I've gotten pretty good at making .4-.6 ohm dual coils with .28 gauge kanthal on a 4/5 wrap.

Thing is, I'm kinda tired of the "robo-dildo" jokes and I'm interested in box mods, but I don't know where to start. First, are they all VW? Can anyone recommend a good one to take the place of my V3 Tronix Flip clone. I was looking at the Sigelei 100w but that seems like overkill, although the price is not bad. What are the inherent dangers in using such a device that requires two 18650 batteries used in tandem and how do I use a multimeter to make sure I'm operating safely? I've only used an ohm meter for measuring my coil resistance. I'm also looking for an RDA that's less liable to leak. Also, what batteries would make a better alternative?

Thanks!

Im really new to box mods n rda's but i jus picked up the sigelei 100 and te 454 big block by kryptonite and im loving it so far, i jus switched from the aspire nautilus mini with aspire vv ego style device. The only thing that id have to complain about the new set up so far is the airflow on the 454 is hard to change but reviewers say it gets easier after while. The aspire nautilus fits on the box as well and gives sum nice vape at 13w
IMO the box is a little weighty/bulky i think but i still love it, is about as wide as iphone 5 and about as think as 2 of them maybe, fits nice in my pocket with no profile but i wear pants a bit baggy
As for ur other questions im to new to be able to answer so i hope to learn more soon

When you ask this question you will get a million different answers. This all depends on what you lik
e. For me, I use a ipv3 150 watt box mod and I'm very happy with it. I use two 18650 vtc5 30 amp batteries with it. I use rdas 100% of the time and have around 20 of them. Some of my all time favorites are the kaiser, the rosev2, the squape, the orchid v4, the taifun, the kaifun, the big dripper, the aqua , the newest fogger 4.1, and the big buddah. All are bottom fed coils which I think are much better than the top fed coils. All of these provide great vape with tremendous flavor. As far as using a ohm reader you never want your build to exceed your batteries limits or amps. Work the formula to determine what is needed to safely run your particular coil concerning battery amps. Do not exceed your amps of your batteries. The new regulated box mod will allow a sub ohm build down to .1 and the chip will adjust the voltage according to your wattage and build. I hope this helps. "Best wishes"

If you are looking for a good box, Try a IPV V2. It is 50watts and with one 18650 battery you will be able to achieve the same as your Flip. The 100 watt Sigelei is also a decent box mod. They have built in Meters and safety protection on them to not allow you to vape at unsafe levels. Where were you looking to purchase? Some Places offer pretty good customer service afterwards for troubleshooting and tips.

For a starter boxmod, you could check out eLeaf iStick, which is a cheap alternative to IPV boxmods and Sigelei boxmods. I think that starting off with a simpler boxmod simplifies things radically.

If you are a cloud chaser and need an overkill box like the God 180w or Sigelei 150w , then go for either one, but for normal use even a simple DNA30 box would wor. No need to instantly get a 150w box and try to figure out what to do with 110w of extra VW you don't end up using.

It all boils down to preference and opinion. Just find one that you feel comfortable buying and which you want to use.

Hope this helps you out with picking a boxmod :)

Thanks all for your help - if I were to get a Reo Grand LP, what is the best RBA to go with it (in terms of air flow and easy of use when recoiling)? Top three? Is it much different from the top-loading RDAs I've gotten used to?

++ for REO. On the website they also sell rebuildables, etc. The sub forum here at ECF has a LOT of great, helpful information.

Another vote for the Reo. Once you go to Reoville, you won't want to leave!!
Reo_2-3.jpg

As for which RDA?

The one on the left (all black) LP Reo Grand is a Rm2, single coil and has a somewhat tighter draw. You can always enlarge the hole though. I prefer a tighter draw myself. The Rm2 is by far my favorite BF dripper.

The one on the right is an Rm4 (modified atomic) it's either single or dual coil, which ever you prefer. It has adjustable airflow control.

There is the Rm3, single or dual coil RDA,s. It's very much like the Rm2.

Then there is the Rm5 (never used it)

And then the Rm6 (modified Stillare) It's alright. Great clouds if that's what you're into, but I prefer the Rm2.

That said... just about any RDA can be modified to bottom feed.
