I have samples of pretty much every TFA & Seedman tobacco flavor, and I'm about to place a 2nd Flavor West order. What I want to find out is which tobacco is a good base for making flavored tobaccos (fruit flavors like blueberry or peach, vanilla & caramel, etc.) I know flavor west's East Coast tobacco is mixed with a lot of other flavors & I think I saw it mentioned that it is "a standard e-cig tobacco flavor" so I'm going to try that one, does anyone know of any other tobacco that makes a good base? Preferably from TFA or Flavor West. So I don't have to make another big order.

Also, is there anywhere to read up on different types of tobaccos that e-cig vendors use, to find out the flavor profiles? I've read the TFA website flavor descriptions and that is helpful. I am hoping there is perhaps a resource on here that has been posted already.

Thanks!!

Thanks for the suggestions!

DeadbeatJeff, I have yet to try making my own but I'm wildly interested. I've been wondering if it's possible to soak other things: herbs, spices, etc to get essences. I'd love a good fresh basil flavor, maybe chamomile or sage..

Detramental, I have that double ry4. I haven't used it yet but it smells really good. I like the black cherry suggestion especially, I'll try that.

Blueser, that brings up a good point. I'm not even that sure I know what I'm looking for. I sort of look at tobaccos as an exotic new flavor I haven't explored much yet. I never was much of a tobacco connoisseur as a smoker. There must be some basic rules, it's easy to find suggestions for food pairings or food/wine pairings. What about tobacco/food? :)

OP/DD...Dolly Dagger...Your question was "Best tobacco base to add in flavorings?...

There is absolutely NO tobacco taste in RY4 Double...it's a double/triple dollop of heavy caramel but if that's what you like, you'll probably like RY4D. I just don't know anything bout mixing tobacco and fruit...the very thought sounds disgusting to me...eeeeek

Since you wanting to ease in...try Toni D'Milano S'Camel, Little Space Drop and Dirty Neutral Base from Inawera...you won't be disappointed. Inawera has a lot of great tobacco bases. Hit JimiD up, he knows the Inawera line (tobacco and fruit) as well if not better than most.

The best tobacco I have found that goes with blueberry is 7Leaves by FA. Add a little Dragon's fruit and cream and it's like heaven. You can try a sample of 7L pre-made juice for $2.50 at EcBlend. For a mix of 7L+Blueberry+DF try their Dragon's Leaf; It's a bit too strong for me so I usually cut it in half.

Thanks Blueser, the site I'm ordering from doesn't have any of those Inawera flavors. (E-cig express). Any others that stand out? I don't mind taking chances with tobacco. Im Really liking all the tobaccos from flavor arts, I have about 10 and the only one that I have a little trouble with is Cam blend. It tastes like dirt, kind of reminiscent of patchouli. :p I did a mix using a tiny amount and it was a nice background note, so I'm versatile (Or too cheap to let anything go to waste.) ;)

Exchaner, if you like 7 Leaves with blueberry, I think you'd love it with a touch of FA's Blackcurrant (strong flavor, use very little). It's like a creme de cassis version, very nice, one of very few fruit-tobacco mixes I've ever liked.

Ecigexpress.com has lots of Inawera flavors, but not the bases. You might try some of FA's tobaccos from there though. The 7 leaves with just a touch of black fire would be a good cig flavor, I like the Virginia and the desert ship, kind of like a spiced tobacco. It doesn't take much. Desert ship at 1.5% is really strong. I'd start off slow, like 2 drops in 10 ml and work up from there. Same with the black fire, but theVirginia and 7 leaves were good at about 5 drops/10 ml (~1.5%).

Edit: just read you said you already had about 10 of the FA tobaccos. Which ones do you have to work with?

I love love love desert ship & shade, probably my two favorite flavors. 7 leaves is right up there, Cuban supreme and Tuscan reserve also. I also have perique black, Layton blend, maxx, dark vapure, cowboy, burley, and black fire. I enjoy all those, not quite as much as the aforementioned. Then there's Cam blend. It's a strange, earthy wood flavor. It sticks in my wick and doesn't ever want to let go. I also have almost every tobacco from TFA/wizard Labs, I haven't tried many of them yet but I really like Captain Black, black honey tobacco, 555, RY4D (with a dash of AP) and RY4 Asian. I have made a few blends using some of these flavors which I really love.
Headintheclouds, I did a mix of black currant (TFA) with a tobacco that turned out pretty good. I bet it would be great in 7 Leaves.

Edit
I also have FA hypnotic myst, some list that as a tobacco but I'm not sure what it is. Doesn't taste like tobacco to me.

Wow, interesting.. I didn't even know they made an actual "base" tobacco. That's useful! I've just been mixing flavors together that smell/taste similar-ish. Like I put perique black in with a caramel coffee juice because at first it reminded me of dark coffee. Then it tasted like dried red peppers and salsa in coffee... So I'm not sure it was a success but it does taste kind of interesting. Nothing I'd write home about but it's fun to drip my tester every so often. I have a hunch it would taste a lot better with straight coffee (not a latte or cappuccino)
