So I am still a noob vaping for two months now. I started on CE4's and ego batteries. Then I purchased a vivi nova and ego twist from a B&M. I started with the 1.8ohm head, but didnt crank it to more than 3.4V. Because it would taste burnt. The 2.4 head I crank to 3.6V and then the 2.8 no more than 4V. Then I thought it was the nova, so i got a kanger T3 with three different heads. Same thing. I can crank the kanger up a little more, but the highest for me is a 2.8ohm with 4V. Anything other than that gets too warm and has a burned taste. All the guys in the B&M are very helpful and I hang out there a few times a week to talk vape stuff etc... They all vape at 6-8 Watts using vamos evics and provaris at 5V or 6V! If I did that on my twist it would be very burnt flavor!. Also, most of the info on this forum and online say the best wattage is 6-8Watts, some guys seem to like over 10Watts. But I am always 5.5-6Watts. Is it the setup I am using? I have a smoktech telescope in the mail and might get a kick. Should I try and set the kick to 6W and see how it is? Maybe the twist is giving a higher output than the indicator reads?

If they are genuine Vision Ego's and Kanger T3's, they should handle a bit more power without burning. It's possible that your Twist isn't calibrated right. Next time you're at the shop, ask if you can use one of their Evics or Vamos with your clearo and see how that measures up. It may be that 4.0 on your twist is actually somewhat higher. Good luck!
Really, you just have to find what tastes good to you. Some liquids work better at different settings. So do different devices. I have 2 Spinners which are basically the same as the twist, and as time went on I've had to lower the output to make the juices taste good. Find your own good settings and vape.
I don't think you're doing anything wrong. I use 2.4 ohm coils with a regular ego-style. Now that I have a Vamo, I find that I usually keep it set at 5 or 5.5 watts. That's using Vivi Novas, Protank, even with rebuildables. Hotter just doesn't taste as good to me. The type of juice may matter, there was one I liked at 6 watts, although I can't remember which that was right now.

What is important is finding what works for you. Much of it depends on what equipment you use. The viscosity of the juice and the speed of the wicking have a huge impact on how high a wattage a device can go before you get a burnt taste. To add to that your sense of taste may get the burnt impact sooner, or later, than others.
So, the big question is; what does your vape lack? After that answer there can be suggestions on devices and/or wattage.

PG/VG ratio, nic mg, flavorings, resistance of delivery device and most importantly personal preference all play an integral role when finding your own V or W sweet spot.
A light or sweet flavor juice (ex. bakery & fruits) may burn above 3.7 where a dry robust tobacco flavor might really pop at 5+V in the same exact delivery device.
VV / VW is all about experimenting to find your personal sweet spot combinations for whatever delivery devices and juices you chose.
I can adjust my PV to perfection for my taste using my favorite delivery device and juice and if you took a drag from it you may think its the worst thing you've ever tasted.

There is nothing magical about vaping above 4v, and the idea isn't to see how high a wattage we can vape at. We each have a power level of our own that works best for us. Believe me, no one can see what you have your PV set at, so set high or low doesn't impress anyone. In fact most of the time the really high numbers you will see posted from time to time simply aren't even possible with most PV's.

make sure that the wicks are saturated hit it a like 3 times with out pressing the button then give it a go idk that might be the problem that helped me with the burnt taste on my first nova
Keep the tank full vape at setting that doesnt taste burnt. Dont worry about what others are doing. There are many variables. I find that my settings are almost always lower than many posters i see.
Yea the guys at that store vape on carto tanks, with high res carts. I put my T3 on a evic one guys had and it read 2.7ohms, the recommended wattage the evic said was 5.2W. So thats where I kept it and I liked the setting. They did tell me that my twist might be calibrated wrong, but its a joytech one so i doubt it. Anyway, I liked the setting and thats pretty much what I had my twist on. Plus they vape 80VG/20PG and I vape 50/50 so my juice is thinner. They told me to vape to taste and not worry about voltage and wattage, which is what I will do! Thanks guys!
So basically and please correct me if I'm wrong, when using your device in Watts/Power mode, the setting in the VV field doesn't matter? So if that is true than, really VV isn't even needed if you use Watts?
Watts will stay constant when I use a Kick..With my Provari I check the attys ohms and adjust the Voltage to get the Wattage I desire..
Volts x Volts / Ohms = Watts
An atomizers resistance can change over time so with VV you need to keep an eye on it....with VW it adjust itself...Im not giving up my Provari any time soon though
When you use watts the device is doing the math for you. Regardless of what you use, power always will equal the voltage * current. So more voltage more power. If you raise watts, its just increasing the voltage "behind the scenes."
I have found that I have to vape at lower voltages on Ego twists or Spinners as they seem to get too hot and the clearos or T3s will start to leak and/or flood. However, on my Vamos or Provari, I can vape at higher voltages with no problems. Personally, I don't like the taste over 4v, but that's just me. I wouldn't worry too much about the voltages as long as the juice tastes good and you get a good throat hit. Also, some focus on the amount of vapor. Again, just concern yourself with the taste
