Okay so, I have 32g Kanthal and 3mm Silica wick. I can wrap working coils, but I feel like I could do better, and would like a few tips on what to do when doing so. How much silica should I be using for each coil? Enough to just fold it over then wrap? Or should I be doubling it over? How many wraps of kanthal should I be doing? Should they be spaced apart more or closer together? Keeping in mind they aren't micro coils. Some of mine short out, or just don't read at all. I know I can learn from experience, but I'd like a little advice to nudge me along the path.

it helps to know what device you are using the wick in for my drippers using 32g i double it over with a paper clip and give it a 4/5 wrap for right around 2 ohms.
I'm using a nimbus attie, going to dual coils if that wasn't clear.
make two like in my pic, maybe make the loop a little smaller so they both fit and you should end up right around .8-1.1 ohms

How much do you think I could cut the silica at? Or does it really matter as long as I fit it all in there? I'm so used to 2.5 ohm single coils on my protank, so just a bit more flavor and vapor production will be a pretty nice step for me, Thanks a ton.
i usually cut the single so they fold around the back and stop. but ultimately it will come down to you, more wick holds/needs more juice shorter wicks mean there will be more loose liquid on the deck.

On RDA's I like to wrap my coils on a rounded tooth pic first (30 gauge Kanthal), then I install the coil and then I thread the coil with either 2.5mm silica, or cotton (using mostly cotton right now). Being that you are using 32 gauge, the rounded tooth pic is too big, so I would do the wrap on a micro screw driver.
You can wrap your coils directly on your wick however, for me, I find that I get neater coils by wrapping on a tooth pic, micro screw driver, or syringe needle. The only time that I wrap on the silica is when I am rebuilding Protank coils.

i think the paper clip is to keep you from wrapping your coil too tight just pull out the clip after wrapping
correct and to keep it stiff, it helps make a near perfect coil (when wrapping an old fashion coil) once you attach the coil you just pull it out.
