Hi,

I brought some VG from a online store health store and saw they sold Amber bottles for storing essential oils, I know some essential oils evaporate if not completely Air tight so naturally assumed the bottles they sold for storing essential oils would have a polycel seal.

I was wrong there just an ordinary screw top without a polycel seal.

These bottles are for long term nicotine base storage, I've done a bit of research and it seems a wax seal may provide some O2 protection similar to a polycel seal but I've read some other conflicting evidence saying it's nothing more then aesthetic and that wax is not air tight.

Any ideas ?

If for long, long term..... like the last of the last bottles, I would get some Argon gas at the liquor store and top them off almost to the top and spray the argon on top. Then seal the bottle and, as you said, a wax seal around the threads.

Overkill, in my opinion, but that would do the trick for you.

I guess I could buy some replacement caps, I'm from New Zealand everything is just a hassle to get here and costly but I haven't brought my dooms day supply of nicotine base just yet so I will need more bottles anyway.

I do have about 1.5 years supply I wanted to store in these bottle and being financially savvy I wanted to reuse these bottles when I do buy a couple liters of nicotine base but in the grand scheme of things a couple bucks lost on bottles isn't a big deal I guess.

Thanks all.

You're really looking for what are called phenolic caps with polyseal cones. Due to the NZ location I won't offer site suggestions and will leave that up to you. Overall these are regarded as producing a good - and repeatable - seal, which becomes a problem with caps that have only a basic foam liner which gets compressed with use.

If you are filling max for long term storage the cone in the cap will leave next to no air space at the top - an application of argon is a bit expensive and overkill under those circumstances.
