Tried them all, dont like plastic on my heating coils.
100% wool batting works best for me, found easy at your local fabric store (cheap), make sure its batting.
Using it at full thickness works great in the 901 and 510 carts, just cut it the width of the cart mouth opening and cut it off level with the top of the cart.
The 401 cart is a little different, peel the batting in half thickness wise, cut the batting the same width as the 401 inner cart. Cut the length approx 1/32 of an inch longer than the inner cart, using a paperclip press the batting into the inner cart just below the top. Now here is the important part use a hypo needle to fill the cart and be careful not to push the batting down into the cart. Slide the needle down the side between the batting and the inside wall of the inner cart, when you have filled the cart, carefully remove the needle making sure you dont pull the batting out with it. Topping of is easy to, make sure not to mess with the batting just drip on it and let it soak in, be patient it takes a sec or 2. I normally get about 5 top offs before I have to replace the wick. Size is critical with the 401 wick, dont want to compress the wool to much or it wont wick well. Great taste without the taste of burnt plastic. All you need to accomplish this is a paperclip, 22ga hypo, 100% wool batting, juice and a little patience.
