Hello,This is my first post. Just got my 401 about a week ago from LiteCig and although i think i got a bad battery, really loving it!
Anyway, in my short time Ive done a ton of experimenting. Just gotta know how things work. One thing I've noticed about the 401 is that the draw is a little strange or "rough" feeling and believe it or not, it seems a little loose to me.
So a friend brought over a Blu-cig and left some carts behind. What I noticed in trying her Blu was that the draw is very smooth feeling compared along side of the 401. It's noticeable. I think the reason for this is the inner cart design differences. The inner cart of the 401 is narrower than the mouthpiece and uses "fins" on the outside to make it fit, but allow airflow. I believe the feeling of the 401 draw is due to the way the air flows over these "fins".
The Blu inner cart uses a different design. The inner cart fits snuggly into the mouthpiece, using a flat side "cut out" shape to achieve air flow.
So what I found was that the inner cart from the Blu fits great in the 401 mouthpiece! So I tried it out, and it worked great! The feeling of the draw is greatly improved. the annoying "whistle" of the 401 was reduced also. And I swear i got better wicking, and better vapor production.
So there were two problems. 1) I'm pretty sure the Blu cart holds less juice. 2) The shortness of the blu inner cart would mean pushing the cart down to the bottom with the paper clip wouldnt work, resulting in the atty bridge not meeting the filler.
Possible solution to number both: You could easily take 2 inner blu carts, cut the closed end off one, and glue it to the other to the desired length. You would use the filler from both, together in the new bigger cart. get a few blu carts and turn 10 into 5 or whatever. This would significantly increase the amount of juice one cart would hold, probably even more than the 401 holds as it is. Also, this would obviously solve the height issue.
Easier solution to number two only: to get around modding the inner carts, you could Use a hot paper clip or a very small drill to make a hole in the side of the mouthpiece. Large enough to see through. Placing the hole in exactly the lowest position that the top of the inner cart could be. Then if you slide the inner cart too far, you will get obvious airflow issues, and/or see through the hole that you had gone too far. The way to find this position in the first place is to slide it all the way down, put the cart on the atty, then push the inner cart up slowly from the bottom hole until it stops. I guess from here its up to the eyeballs.
You could also use the toothpick method for topping off. rather than moving it.
Anyway, nobody cares about any of these neurotic things, But hopefully this will help someone. If anyone's interested I can post a follow up after i do the mod.
Thoughts?
