I just purchased a new kamery K100 mod from my vapor store. I have a couple of Kamery k100's I bought about three years ago. This new design battery tube is narrower than the old ones. I've been using Tenergy 18650 protected batteries for a couple of years in my prevous K100's and they work perfectly, plenty of clearance between the battery and the K100 tube. These batteries will not fit into the new style K100 I received from my vapor store. I made the mistake of forcing one of the batteries in, it tore the sidewall of the battery and caught fire. Out of four different brands of 18650 batteries I checked two fit and two didn't.
Just thought I give a heads up if you have a older k100 and purchase this new one, the battery tube is narrower.

Everyone is free to use whatever type batteries in their mods that they wish, but you do know that protected ICR batteries became obsolete for mod useage over a year ago? Everyone "should" be using the safe chemistry IMR or IMR/hybrid chemistry batteries.

Welcome aboard
Forcing a battery into a mod, especially a mech, is Never a good idea. The battery wrapper Is the only thing preventing a short and the exact result you have seen.
Using a Protected battery in a mech/regulated mod is Not a good idea. Apparently the Tenergy battery 'protection' circuitry failed.

I did not know this, thanks. I started vaping 4-5 years ago and never had a problem so I didn't keep up with what's going on. I checked those links for batteries, too many choices. Will you recommend for me a good battery and charger to use for this type of Mod? Thanks again.

The battery you need depends on the resistance of the coils/atomizer you will be using. What is the lowest resistance (ohms) you use in your Mod.

From @Baditude's Blog (he's our resident battery/safety expert), the first link he gave you:

Get the best charger that you can reasonably afford. Statistically most battery incidents occur while charging. Pila, Xtar, and Nitecore Intellicharger are the most recommended brands.

I know I'm of of date but of all the ones I've tried I love the Kanger Evod single coil, I think the lowest is 1.8 ohm up to 2.2 maybe, however they all seem to work perfect for me, maybe it's because I mix my own vape and that's all I use. Appreciate the help

On a fully charged battery (4.2v) with a 1.8Ω coil this Ohm's Law Calculator tells me that you would only be drawing ~2.3A (with no headroom).

Since I try to never exceed 50% of the CDR (continuous discharge rating) of a fully charged battery I would double that 2.3A for safety headroom (4.6A). The reason that I place a 50% limit is because as a battery ages the mAh of the battery degrades, as the mAh degrades so does the batteries c rating (amp limit). So down the road, a 4.6A battery may end up being a 2.3A battery.

You could use ANY battery on the list, including the smaller 18350 batteries (if your mod takes that size). The higher the mAh, the longer you can go before recharging the battery. You can also use a higher Amp battery should you wish to do so. In the end, you may find that some of the higher amp batteries, (i.e. 10A, 20A) are less expensive due to supply & demand.

With all the new subΩ clearomizers hitting the market (like the Kanger Mini Subtank) 20A batteries are pretty cheap.

BATTERIES - WHERE TO BUY

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics
