I didn't believe anything this "Doctor" said, other than Hookah Pens exist.
Why should we even assume that
A) his daughter showed him a Hookah Pen
B) that she is under 18
C) he is aware of any minors using Hookah Pens or any other e-cig
D) he is a "doctor"
E) he has a daughter
I could probably go on, but I've spent too much time thinking about this garbage already.
That "news" story was TV trolling at it's worst. The misinformed get angry at e-cigs and we get mad at the "news" station.

One Hookah pen 600 puffs = 10 ten cartons of cigarettes???
One cigarette = about 15 puffs. 600/15 = 40 cigarettes = 2 packs of cigarettes.

I kind of felt like I was watching a very bad Saturday Night Live skit or something. The hosts were completely clueless about the subject.
I can see his worry for a 14 year old daughter (which she was using illegally). Nobody wants their children to start smoking, I get it. But talking about putting illegal substances in it went a bit too far. Notice how he said it's been 15 years since he was in a headshop lol.

I'm floored mainly because we got a letter home from school about this last Friday - my son is in middle school, in the 7th grade....
The letter said, in part "Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,
I wanted to make you aware of an increasingly popular trend with students using electronic cigarettes, hookah pens or hookah cigarettes. The hookah cigarette is an electronic cigarette that contains nicotine. It is as dangerous as cigarettes. Its sale, possession or use by anyone under 19 years old is illegal....."
It goes on to say that it's a level 3 infraction as it goes against school policy and Oh! State testing is this week - rah rah rah....
Now I'm wondering if they are just getting this from the news, or if it's really happening.
I'm torn though - I do not want to see kids interested in this in any way shape or form. It is illegal, so I wish they weren't getting their hands on it. But thanks to the "it's as dangerous as cigarettes" part, I had to sit down with my worried son AGAIN, who had been so happy I was off cigs and vaping, and reassure him that what I was doing was much healthier than smoking, but no, it is not something that kids should think is ok to try. I've also had to explain it to my friends who got the same letter AGAIN. I am angry about the wording and I plan to respond but I don't know what I'm going to say yet......

I can't imagine trying to deal with all of that. Schools tend to jump the gun on these sorts of things trying to get ahead of the curve. I was a teacher for many years. Anyone that thinks schools are not political is deluding themselves. I remember well when the dining hall replaced their chairs and I arranged to have their old ones put in my room to replace all the broken and unsafe chairs in my room. The next day all my broken ones were back and I was reprimanded. Seems the dining hall chairs were destined for the storage warehouse because they were bought with funding that cannot be used in a classroom 20 years prior. Stupid and frustrating.
The fact is schools these days are in lawsuit H E double toothpick. They are trying to cover their own butts ahead of the fact with no regard to facts or what it might do to the community they serve.
Yeah, it's too bad about the schools. Used to be they taught kids things. Now they fight for funding instead and leave the teaching to strung out working parents to worry about. Lets ban e-cigs. That'll straighten out this mess.
I am all for and fully support any efforts to keep PVs out of the hands of kids. I really see these as a best alternative to people who are already smokers. I don't like the wealth of lies that this story spread, and I think this doctor is a ANTZ pawn or full fledged follower, but the idea that parents should know that e-cigs can contain nic is a solid warning.
I love flavors and will defend with my dying breath their place in the e-cig world, but we do need to make sure that parents know these are not just flavor sticks.
I don't see them as a gateway as some may claim, but nic is still addictive no matter how mixed the medical world is about it's harm or benefits.
If only we could get a big news agency to give a true report on how most vapers and shops alike don't want kids vaping, but told the truth about what e-cigs are and what the science says about them as far as risk and uses are. Maybe the CASAA should be working on getting interviews on TV too.

Propaganda is alive and well in the world today, and there isn't a single "news" outlet on television that will ever report in an unbiased, educated, and honest fashion. Not unless things change.
