I like the taste of tobacco. But was never a connoisseur

I smoked this Chop-chop (tobacco) - Wikipedia

I wanted to grow my own (Virginia and Burley blend), but I have no place to properly cure and store a supply (figure 2 yrs in case I have a bad year growing). And that would be after a few years testing varieties and blends.

I stuck with small commercial growers most of the time. Still 1lb every 2 months at <$15 lb (later $25 thanks to SCHIP).

I used to have to break ice to lay in puddles to work up there. ;)

I spared the other guys usually since I was more polar than they were.

I plan on ice skating Saturday, after the next couple of days the lake's gonna be golden. It's already 5 inches thick, and we're plummeting in temp. (by the way Doffy, wind chill makes water freeze faster)

Friday's HIGH is 3 degrees.
Saturday's is 30, so that's when I'll go a'skatin

i'm just curious who decides these things
humidity is measurable, but generally not stated. It just either is humid or not
pressure is measureable

but "feels like" and "wind chill"?
are there instruments for these?

Actually, wind chill and heat index are scientific calculations.
The feels like and "RealFeel" values are not the same (though close).
They add in human perception as well (using proprietary algorithms).

On the heat side, look into wet bulb temperature. It's part of the wet-bulb globe temperature.
"The wet-bulb globe temperature (WBGT) is a type of apparent temperature used to estimate the effect of temperature, humidity, wind speed (wind chill), and visible and infrared radiation (usually sunlight) on humans. It is used by industrial hygienists, athletes, and the military to determine appropriate exposure levels to high temperatures."

Sounds like fun sloth, I'll be draging the nets out on the lake and sticks will hit the ice this weekend (hockey) [emoji4]

Simple and easy...

If you live up where sloth lives, you better know the wind chill or feels like temperature or there's simply days you may not make it back home alive.

Knowing the temperature alone will not prepare you for what's outside... and you'll freeze FAST.

That almost happened to me last week

I walked out in the morning and it was below 50

Thought I was going to die

Got my jacket just in time, any longer and I'm sure I would have had frostbite

Got back to 80 the next day and all was well :thumb:

True story
