Too much carbon in the smelting and not enough light airplane and BMW. Florida looks good for that kind of thing.

;)

T

Light aircraft go down around here all the time, I'd have thought there would be plenty of that to go around :?:

Hi guys/Corey
As a confirmed Reonaut for many years (or since 2013--man, time passes), I'm thinking about adding something new to my collection. All I've got are Reos at this point (except for som Evics (go figure)), and I'm seriously considering getting on 'the list' for the CC, which, together with Peter's Li'l Snitch are among the most beautiful mods I've ever seen. I have a question, tho'. I like to go as light as I can, so usually end up getting aluminum mods. How much does the Aluminum CC weigh (in comparison to the steel, for example)? I've browsed through this thread, but either it ain't there, or my brain's so addled from trying to get through 696 pages .

All the best

:)

Welcome, a CC is a great choice for the next step.

Corey took these before the SS was available but I believe that they are pretty darn close to the brass/copper weight. Aluminum will be your best bet.

The aluminum mods are at least as light as a REO Grand. I THINK they're like 3 grams or so? Corey'll chime in soon with a definitive answer. (Edit - B2L beat him to it!)

@B2L I'm pretty sure you're right, it was due to the salt air near the ocean. That's what Rossum thinks causes his killer patinas (but I know he's wrong...it's angel oil coming off his skin :D)

Couple things...

Metal is crystalline

Nail---> head. Mine's been doing the same thing. Personally, I like it.

3 ounces ... :p 3 grams was what I used to pay $150 for...no one could afford a scale that would get you that extra .5g it seemed... erhm...calibration weights...medical grade....very precise...very expensive...o_O

Yup, that's it. I love the look as well, are you near the coast? Just wondering if the salt air plays into it. Uwes had a nice purple patina going when he was in Florida (on the coast), which went away when he went back north, but I don't remember seeing it with the crystalline thing going on.

Now the question is which aluminum?? ;) There have been 3 grades done to this point. Corey may only be offering 6061 at the moment. Not sure??

Oh yea.....welcome to our little corner of the world!!:thumb:

Indeed! 6061, at the moment. A limited number of 7068 will be coming in the near future. :)
