I've tested this mod with sony vtc4's, vtc5's, and LG hg2's. The only thing that's left to test with are Sammy 30q's and 25r's. The 30q's being the preferred battery of our Australian friend. :)

I have some Sammies headed my way, as I type this. There really isn't a lot of room in here to play with. If a battery were 1mm longer than the ones I've tested with, it could mean that the cap won't go all the way on and sit flush. Unacceptable! :rules:

If the Sammies are any longer, I will have to skinny something up to account for it. Most likely candidate will be the bridge. I can always pull the silver negative contacts and take a little off the heads if need be.

I'm shooting for snug on these things. No battery rattle, without the need for o-rings to keep the batteries in place. No room for 'em anyways. Things really are that tight in there...

So, in the meantime,....I have begun the smooving process. Can't go too smoove, tho. Needs some tooth for the finish that he's having put on her.

Here's where she sits, at the moment...

No worries, my friend.

Aside from welding on a button top, the Sonys are the longest unprotected batts.

And seemingly the fattest...

The sonys are the snuggest, fo sho.... :D

The LG HG2's are still favored, by me at least. They fit like a glove. :)

I forgot I had a couple of those...

Quick update, then...

Sony VTC4's, VTC5's, and LG HG2's fit so perfectly it's scary. 'tis a beautiful thing.

Sony VTC5A's are snug, tho they do fit.

Sony VTC6's are too fat. :(

Even with the sticker removed, they're just too darn tight.

It's amazing to me that there's such a difference in diameters and lengths. Kinda like the length of atty 510's.... No good standard in the industry to work from...

I gave my guy an LG HG2 to work from, as far as battery hole fitment. Told 'im I wanted to tighten up the holes, just so. I hate battery rattle... I also knew there wouldn't be any place for o-rings in the dual battery design, so we had to snug things up, a bit.

Stupid fat batteries... :(
