Tom has me pretty well covered!

But yeah, I do need more toppers... I love my Stumpys. I need to check out these Goons everyone's talking about. They just don't look like they have enough air compared to the Stumpy. I also really liked the Thump but I haven't used any for a few months. Need to try it out with a clapton build. I went back to an Odin V2 on the SSCC for a try since I basically started on those and forgot they can pack a pretty decent punch. Also, 'Nupins; I need to give them a fair shake. I picked up a few but only built one and maybe didn't give it a proper test... I'm strictly unflavored here, so it seems to me the build/atty combo maybe stands out more? IDK since I don't do flavors but I guess it's the same when people talk about how one atty has so much better flavor. For me it's how much throat hit it packs vs harshness or having too little air and burning wicks.

The Goon 24mm has more air than the Stumpy (which I have several of). I have not tried a Goon 22mm so maybe someone else can offer information there.

Goon 22 air holes measure 2.5 mm, Stumpy measures 2.35 mm, but I can't really tell much difference between them as far as the draw goes.

@JPHowell, I see you stalking here... May sound creepy/weird but you kinda popped into my head earlier for reasons unknown... How ya been? :?:

Thanks for thinking about me. Been doing good. Still enjoying my CC's and following this thread. Cancer is somewhat under control now. Not in any remission but not getting any worse either. Not having any effects on me physically that I can notice.

I never noticed anything resembling any kind of peppery taste, in any of the WL or MFS stuff I've gotten. :?:

The WL was in 100% VG, though... All I taste is sweet, in that stuff. :)

I never really got the marlboro light thing that SXD always talked about... :(

Way back, when the nic comparison thread was young, the pepper referred not to the taste but to the "tickle" in your nasal passages. I've never gotten a peppery taste from any of the nics I've sampled. I did get some at one point that smelled like pure gasoline (I can't remember which company it was from, it wasn't NN or WL), I didn't want to see what it tasted like

I'm well stocked with NN and love it but WL Ice was incredible. I got in on some right before WL discontinued it or I never would have tried anything else.

Pepper can be described to mean several different things.

It's not exactly a 1:1 pepper taste.

And someone who's never tasted a peppery nic next to a clean nic wouldn't know the difference.

It's more of a kick more often than a taste, but often with an associated flavor for those that prefer not to have it or want it for say a tobacco flavor.

Or the difference between peppery on the tongue, peppery on the lips or peppery in the throat.

IIRC, MFS has often been described as peppery also. Though I could be wrong.

Part of my reasoning for my curiosity for a comparison.

My next question was at what mg/ml are we basing this opinion.

I taste my nic base straight with my usual build when I open a new liter.

Well... after I confirm it's within the ballpark in strength.

I think the first time I read someone saying some nic they got tasted peppery, it actually was MFS they were talkin' about. I've never noticed it, personally.

I do NOT consider myself to be a connoisseur, however... So, definitely don't take my word for it...

I will leave it to folks with much more sophisticated palates than mine, to opine on such matters... :nun:

That may leave me out.

May not though.

It's quite possible I'm just sensitive to ... something?!?

And the fact I use so much nic with such little to no flavoring may just account for the rest.

Or something may have contaminated my WL nic.

I dunno.

I just find it odd. Seems there's no rhyme or reason to what one experiences with nic at times.

Compared to?
This is a legitimate inquiry.
Compared to the four "premium" nics that were in the blind test I ran summer of 2015. I was not expecting that, especially considering it had been in plastic bottles for 2-1/2 years (in the freezer though).
My next question was at what mg/ml are we basing this opinion.
In my case, 15-ish. That's pretty high by most people's standard these days, but I understand you're in an alternate reality when it comes to nic strength. :)

Plenty of of us still vaping higher nicotine strengths.
No everyone bought the nicotine=bad line from the anti-tobacco (now anti-vaping) groups nor have a goal or reducing/elimination it.

I don't do caffeine-free coffee or tea either.

Yeah, that reminds me. Today is December 13th. Exactly 3 years since I started vaping. :D

I started at 18 with occasional blasts of 24. It took me 5 days to stop smoking. A few weeks later, I tried cutting down to 12. Didn't work. Not satisfying. Mixed 12 and 18 to get 15. Been there ever since.

Well, until my last batch of base. I mixed that one at 14.

If you remember, I offered to be included in that test...

At full strength. ;)

And I followed the results in the big nic thread.

I was wondering what USMC had compared to to claim "quite good" and "not peppery".

With no answer, I'd have to assume nothing.

Which leaves no basis of comparison.

Which would be meaningless.

If one were to say x nic was pink and fishy or tasted like kerosene, etc. and y nic was clean and clear with no scent and some th, there's something.

"Grog say taste good"... not helpful.

When I tested WL mixed @ 6mg vs VT @ 36 - 50mg and WL still had more th, kero flavor and pepper, I have to assume results like yours point to a vast change in something.

I forget the name, but I suspect my batch was sourced from the one place Kurt said tested clean but had a pink hue and lots of "flavor" (pepper, etc.) that a bunch of vendors got ahold of.

Thanks for the reminder.

Didn't realize it's been over 3 years for me.

Nov. 3rd start date

Nov. 17 first day without a cig

2013

Congrats, Uwe. What a milestone.
