My Brassy don't care if it's snowing or not. It is super happy with it's new Catfished Goon. I'll be happier when its Ultem drip tip arrives.

I really like the leather wrap on your brassy  Does it cover the bottom too? Did you make it yourself?
The leather is awesome,it does not cover the bottom though. I did not make it myself, rglp4lyfe made them. He included two of them in the sale. I love the evolving condition of the leather over time, and with usage.

Oops ! I saw this post after the other one. Thank you, yes it's #55, and it was RG's. It was a smooth transaction, but way harder for him than for me, I'm sure. I've done a little remedial work to it, smoothing out the heavy dings on the top with a file and some abrasives. Still not done yet, but I'm not looking to do a complete restoration, I kinda like the Beausage.
This is getting some seriously heavy rotation in the arsenal, and I'm really digging it with the Goon. I wish 528 had considered making a 22mm LP, as that would just be cream on top.

I can guaranty you've been trained much more rigorously than most school bus drivers.

Not where I went to school.

Our course was a bit longer but we spent the more than the difference learning inspections of 2 vehicle parts, hazmat, and doubles and triples.

    That's all theory. No driving.

Then we had to learn several basic backing/parking maneuvers that took the bulk of the remaining time.

The bus drivers got nearly twice the actual road time in a shorter course.

Then again, they typically needed it as they tended to be people who (rightfully so) didn't have the confidence that they could drive a big rig.

And you've spent a LOT more time in snow and ice than most down south.

I suspect the latter is true for you wife.

Not really true on the wife so much.

But yeah, 100 hours probably just this week.

Though snow and ice are entirely different beasts.

And I'd wager folks from Nashville to Dandridge have a LOT more experience with ice than where I'm from in Pennsylvania.

On my common route it tends to snow from New England to the Tennessee/Virginia border and ice from there to the New Mexico/Arizona border.

    ;)

Even on the off chance you do know what you're doing down here, too many crazies that don't that I don't want to deal with.

    I'll give you that.

Problem is everything shuts down so nobody learns how to deal with it.

Much like when you go to a touristy spot in the mountains and have to deal with all the people that can't drive in the mountains.

    :thumb:

I must say it is my opinion that bus drivers, especially school buses should have to pass a very intensive adverse driving conditions test to get their passenger endorsement.

And only the elite should be awarded that endorsement.

Their cargo is much more precious than mine.

How does one calculate priceless*X where X= # of passengers?

    That's an outdated, useless map.

Yeah, a lot is just knowing how to drive. But I actually agree about side roads for buses in the south. Not worth trusting a bus driver with the lives of young kids in that stuff down there.

I will never forget my last winter in TN. It began flurrying (never did accumulate) and the newspaper said 114 cars were abandoned, some in the middle of busy intersections in JC.

    I went out for pizza.
I wish I could share what I saw last winter.

Weather man was reporting a nasty storm coming in late afternoon.

Somewhere between 8 and 10 AM I left North Jersey a couple miles outside the Lincoln Tunnel.

    I kid you not.
    On completely perfect roads.
    For hours.
All the way down the NJ Turnpike.
All the way down I95 through Delaware.
    Around BOTH MD beltways.
Down MD 5 and through MD 301.

All the way to about Waldorf.

People were just making full speed 90 degree turns off the road into guard rails and embankments.

On perfectly good, completely clear roads.

Had to be at least 60 to 70 cars totalled.

Wildest ish I've ever seen. Still can't believe it.

Well, it may have changed, but when I was in school in TN, they certainly weren't elite.
My father carried a chauffeur's license for many years to be a substitute driver. Didn't use it often and finally dropped it.

A far as I know that's still all that's required. An extra written test, extra fee, and clean record.

I suspect the same is still true in many states.

    Nope

    It's a class B by federal law.

Which includes air brake and passenger written test, inspection test, parking test and driving test.

Just not sure what the minimum vehicle requirements are for the vehicle driven in the test.

I think "correct" spelling is youse. In some dictionaries

    I'm from Philly.

    We don't spell it.

    We made it.

    Someone else can "define" it.

Kinda like WAWA and Subway "defined" cheesesteaks across the country.

But anyone 20 miles outside of Philly is still clueless decades later.

Needs real chip steak, Boars Head brand new yorker American cheese and proper Amoroso rolls.

None of this whiz wit garbage...

I know some Philly folk that disagree on the cheese whiz.

    I prefer provolone :)

Then it's a changed since the late 70s.

A cursory look makes me think it changed around '86.
I wasn't riding buses at that point.

Nicest thing I can say is no, you don't.

    Those aren't cheese steaks.

Cheese steaks only contain real ingredients.

Cheese substitute doesn't even fit in the government's idea of a food group.

For someone to disagree on what a meal is, the first prerequisite is to know whether or not the ingredients on their plate is even food.

And for the record, the "Philly people" on the interwebz do not at all represent real world Philly people when it comes to cheese steak preferences.

I have no idea where these people come from.

Only 2 explanations I can think of...

    1 they're imposters or lying
2 they live within walking distance of that God awful corner that houses those atrocities Pat's and Genos and they don't know any better

Bless their little hearts either way.

You may be right. 86' comes up a lot in talks about regulations and deregulation.

    The cheesesteak feud

In NY it's cheesecake. And pizza.

And NY does not have the best pizza, IMHO (I'm an Italy snob...)
Perhaps for America, if you like thin crust it does.

Cheesecake I'm inclined to agree but I prefer cheesecake vapes over cheesecake the food, honestly. :thumb:
