Big & Brassy But Will It All Work Together?

Hello to you all. I had a great morning last week ordering some parts from ...dunno if i can say the name but ill be leaving links so apologies if so

K i got one of these
Sentinel M16 Telescopic Mechanical mod

(links removed but its a clone from a well known company that ships from the far east with free shipping)

I still a little unsure what batteries to get for this. 18650? 18500? should they be protected batteries or are unprotected ok? Anyone know where i can buy a cheap charger also? Im a little poor so i might have to scrimp on it even though i shoudlnt.

now im reallly in unknown territory. I liked the look of these so i bought one to go with the above-
Tobh Atty V2 Style Rebuildable Dripping Atomzier

will i have any problems with the two working together? is it quite easy to set up these attys if so?

No real need to mention the last thing i got but it completes my set.
Glass + Brass 510 Drip Tips (2-Pack)

in theory it shoulld look the business but im a little worried that ive bought incompatable ites and also im really confused about batteries. I would like to use 18650 if they fit and the longer the charge is important to me.

Could anyone share any thoughts with me on it all?

Thanks

komp

If you're going to be using that atty, you should pick up an ohms reader as well as watch a few videos on youtube. An 18650 will fit in that mod, as for what kind of 18650, I would recommend using only Sony VTC4's or VTC5's as they will work on any build you decide to do on the atty. A 'kick' is not required unless you would like to control the voltage. You should have no problem at all using these products together and it seems like a stellar setup if you build your coil properly

ps what is a 'kicker' and do i need/want one? tx

A kick will regulate the voltage or wattage.
If you get the 18500 you will have room for the kick.
If you get the 18650 you might have to get an additional kick tube if you want to use a kick.

Details:

•Matching with atomizer in a resistance of 1.5ohm-3.0ohm
•Variable wattage: 5W-15W in 1W increment or decrement
•POR: After power on reset, the KICK will get into the alert status if no atomizer installed
•Low voltage protection (below 3.2V)
•Low resistance protection (below 1.0ohm)
•Short circuit protection
•Match with any kind of SIGELEI Telescope, and most full mechanical mods

The sentinel can use both 18650 and 18500 as it is telescopic.

You want high drain unprotected batteries, also known as safer chemistry or IMRs. For 18650 cells the Sony VTC is the current king of the hill, esp the VTC5. It is rated to 2600mah and 30amps. Having a high drain (amperage) rating is usually a very desirable thing for mechs as one of the main reasons for a mech is the ability to run subohm coils. The lower the resistance of your coil the more amperage it will require of your battery. Exceeding the amperage of your battery will put serious stress on it and could result in thermal runaway where the battery starts venting very hot gasses.

So again, at 30a the VTC will safely handle all but the most extreme subohm coils.

Honorable mention goes to the Efest purple, MNKE, and AW.

If you havent done so yet, you need to familiarize yourself with ohms law, and over all battery safety before you start building coils and using a mech.

In addition as mentioned you NEED something to check the resistance of your coils. Simple OHM reader that you thread on an atty to will suffice or a quality multimeter.

The TOBH (and clones) are a nice rebuildable attys for a mech. It will work with virtually any device with a 510 connection, which is what the majority of mechs use. It can be built in number of ways depending on your intended use and expected results.

If this is your first RBA I would consider building just a simple single micro coil with cotton wick. Easy to build and set up, and easy to adjust and fine tune.

There are thousands of YouTube vids on build tutorials out there.

I dont know if you would want a kick with a dripper because it limits your choices of resistance ratings you can use and caps off your power to what would be considered a little low for most drippers. Plus they either make your mod huge or force you to use one battery size down (18500 plus a kick is approx as long as an 18650). Really I think they are ideal for tank style attys like a Kayfun.

Firstly thank you for all your replies. Very much appreciated. I am hoping my 'gear' arrives this weekend so i better start giving it some thought. I will read up the thread.

Ive been watching a few vids Midnite but i think your right. I need to read up more on wicking etc.

So its the Sony VTC then MrPlink. I did read that you dont scrimp with the batteries. I better see how much they are mind as ill be needing 2 and a charger and im just on working tax credits (£50pw)

I can drop the need for a kicker but at least i know what they are now. Thanks edyle.

Im a loving hearing that kiwisoop. Youtube here i come and i will update and post some pics when i get it all together. again many thanks.

18650, look for a nitcore on amazon, and get a protank, or any non ego tank with packaged atomizers to use until you have an ohm meter, and can build coils. Plus, when you're new to coils, they get a little wonky, so having a tank to use while you learn will help a lot. I used a pro tank on my m16 clone until I was sufficient at rebuilding the octopus. Keep in mind that the octopus is one of the easiest to build drippers around. Then, I did 1.5 ohm coils for a while, then down to .9 or so, and now I'm at .4. Move at a slow pace, don't be in a hurry. Doing things at your own pace, and not blowing your teeth out is well worth it. The clouds will be waiting when you're ready.

thanks for the advice danca. I think im gonna have to jump straight in building coils mind. Mmmm this is gonna be messy. Im gonna need some coil wire no? Found some of this. Sounds 'about right' to me

Contents
1 x 5 metres of Linguine Flat Wire from the Philippines

Features
Easy to Coil 0.40mm wide FeCrAl ribbon (Kanthal) appx. 0.38 ohms/cm

actually ive 10 boge carts still i will use them the now and get into building slowly as you say danca.

Umm, are you new to vaping? It sure sounds like it with the above questions. It sounds to me as if you are jumping in the deep end not knowing how to swim and without a life preserver.

Not understanding battery basics and safety can get you seriously injured if not killed. I strongly suggest you read the following write ups by forum member Baditude before proceeding.
